Sir clan, please change your attitude
« on: March 11, 2011, 04:54:23 am »
Dear Sir clan,

Lately i see some of your members calling denybuild votes with reasons like "retarded" or "idiot builder". There is no need for insults so I suggest the following:
When you see somebody build in a way that you think is bad for your team, try to contact him with teamchat. If that person doesn't respond, you can call a denybuild vote with reasons like "spamming random eggs", "replacing arm and nodes with turrets", or whatever suits the situation.
If the builder does respond to your teamchat, you can tell him what he is doing wrong and tell him how he can improve your base. With other words: become his tutor. Becoming his tutor will give you profit on many levels, give it a try.

An other thing: if your team looses a game, there is no need to blame one or two members of your team for that. Just click, forget about it and play a new game. No need to get proud of yourself for making a newbie leave.

Last but not least: stop harassing one person with your whole clan. If you don't like what that person says, use /ignore or call a mutevote with a good reason. Reason: "i wanna see how many friends you have" is not a good reason (was called by a level 3 admin omgwtf!)

tl;dr: your clan is behaving like a bunch of little children and is driving people away from gpp. Please start acting like gentlemen.

I agree. I called that vote, and I have no excuse other than being pissed. I have yet to apologise to the person I called the vote on, but I'm working on my attitude, and will keep this in mind in the future. Thanks for calling me on that GPF.

They've been like this for a while. The best solution is to cuss out anyone with "Sir" in their name as soon as they join, as violently as possible, then pester the admins until they get permabanned.

ok, can you give me the tool thingy app that can code?

I think you need to change YOUR attitude, rather than addressing an entire clan with this why don't you as a responsible admin single out the individuals calling these votes and sort it out.
You will find this attitude you speak of does not stem from any clan but from individuals with low tolerance for awful builders and new players.

I for one have helped many a new player get the hang of the game.

Last but not least: stop harassing a whole clan when your grievance is about one person.
Don't you mind to tell me what you nickname meens, cause in my vocabulary there is only anon and a moose ???

If the builder does respond to your teamchat, you can tell him what he is doing wrong and tell him how he can improve your base. With other words: become his tutor. Becoming his tutor will give you profit on many levels, give it a try.

This is excellent advice, for the four people every six months who actually do respond in this manner. Generally people that would respond to this sort of thing, are the same sort of people who have already looked around and have a rudimentary understanding how building works. Perhaps I should be less lazy and try talking first, but one in 50 builders respond to this sort of thing, and in the meantime I usually have incoming humans to deal with. Sure, educating these people is worth it, when these people can in fact be educated.

Building privileges really aren't that bad to loose. The rest of what you say, GPF, is terrible of course. Also if I may ask, which level 3 admin (got a small condump)? I know that kind of thing happens sometimes, but it really should not.

@ kasofa thank you very much for your understanding. I think your responce is very brave, +1

@ anonymoose this thread is not about one person.
I allready told the individuals several times on separate occasions to change their behaviour but that didn't work. They don't care about what I say and it seems to get even worse. You weren't there, but yesterday at least 4 members of your clan where harassing one person until he disconnected.

So now I address the whole clan, hoping that the good guys will talk some sense into the bad guys. I think you are one of the good guys, please don't prove me wrong.

@ F50 sorry, I don't have a condump for you, and I dont like calling names. I allready talked with that level 3 admin about it and I think that he will be a more mature admin in the near future.

Dear Sir clan,

Lately i see some of your members…
Last but not least: stop harassing a whole clan when your grievance is about one person.
Check your attitude, Anonymoose.
You missed the point of my post here, 'some' and 'calling' implies more than one person and more than one instance, yet this whole thing seems to be about one instance and one game where one individual (who just happens to be in a clan) was a bit cranky and had no time for some new player.
Lately i see some of your members calling denybuild votes with reasons like "retarded" or "idiot builder"
Who? When? Where? i could say 'said clan does this' too, but without giving legitimate examples and names to back it up it is merely slander, also you seem to be completely ignoring the fact that ALL players call votes, not just those in some clan.
And don't try tell me you have not ever called a denybuild vote with reason: 'shit/bad/idiot/crap/retarded/awful/etc builder'

Last but not least: stop harassing one person with your whole clan. If you don't like what that person says, use /ignore or call a mutevote with a good reason. Reason: "i wanna see how many friends you have" is not a good reason (was called by a level 3 admin omgwtf!)
Now I certainly don't condone this behavior, but once again, this sounds like a one off instance and unrelated to any clan, nobody was 'harassing anyone with support of a whole clan' this is just bad behavior from one individual and I am sure he wont do it again.
Don't you mind to tell me what you nickname meens, cause in my vocabulary there is only anon and a moose ???

i think i've told you this before, moose.  you're an exception.  most of your clan that i see day-to-day are unrepentant pricks.  without naming names, here is what i see on a daily basis from some of your members.  the spamming of text taunt or outright spam binds.  blaming of the team each and every loss.  votespam.  harassment of new/poor players.  bleeding or TKs for frivolous reasons (such as blocking)  the list goes on.

as for who was getting harassed, if it was when i think it was, it was my real life friend, trying GPP for the first time.  he was catching some flack by some members of sir when i disconnected, then later related to me how little he wanted to play because of the dicks that inhabit the official server.

"Some" implies no such thing; it explicitly means "one or more" (from "sem", meaning "one"). Nor does a member of a clan necessarily have anything to do with that clan.

But apparently your interpretation was correct and you are just being defensive. You could instead be constructive and try to make sure none of your members are "cranky and ha[ve] no time for … new player[s.]" ("Logical quoting" because the forum is broken.)

some Sirs are awesome people, other idiots.
But, ive also denybuilt some fools who make floor trappers, because they dont know how to build, but if its illegal to do that now, i will not.
technically, we need a training server.

Let's see how much of that I fit in... (Green = good, Red = bad)

  • I'm an unrepentant prick.
  • I rarely if ever spam.
  • I don't blame my team for EVERY loss. Just the ones that weren't my fault. And weren't stacked.
  • I don't really votespam, I only call denybuild votes on bad builders and I also call a bunch of nextmap votes.
  • I don't harass new/poor players except if they repeatedly show themselves to be not learning, and making the same mistakes over and over even when helped/told how they should change.
  • I really never bleed or TK. I only bleed/TK if bled/tked by them or if they are griefing. For example, yesterday on Niveus two grangers were attacking me (I was mara) so I killed them. We all laughed :3 Example of the griefing part...hmm...if somebody is tking base, I will TK them before they can do so. I don't know anybody who wouldn't do that (who isn't an admin).

Overall I am somewhat annoying. I try not to be, and any of my friends can tell you I'm a pretty nice guy overall, although I can be a bitch at times. I do however try to be nice to newbies as well as my friends.

About the actual TOPIC of this thread, around 60% of my ~90 denybuild votes have had the reason "idiot builder", which in my opinion is a good reason. If they are an idiot builder they shouldn't build. If the newbie shows intelligence and tries to learn how to do stuff in a respectful (and grammatically correct/spelled correctly) manner I will do my best to teach them.

Like it was said earlier, not every Sir| member is is a total pain in the butt of everyone in the server, especially n00bs, but quite a few are total jerks, that has caused me have have next to 0 respect for the clan, because of how many in it don't comprehend respect or kindness.
tl;dr: much of your clan is behaving like a bunch of little children and is driving people away from gpp. Please start acting like gentlemen.

You will find this attitude you speak of does not stem from any clan but from individuals with low tolerance for awful builders and new players.

Its not only about low tolerance. A few days before this thread, you where drunk in game for a few hours in a row. A level 4 admin told you to get rid of your alias and to wear your clan tag. You got rid of your alias but refused to wear your tag. Later that day, you almost got a half-a-day-ban for your attitude.
Many times when a player is behaving like trash, /listplayers tells me that that player is from Sir| clan. Please don't be a part of the problem and change your attitude.

-Menace13
Allthough "idiot builder" is less insulting then the other 40% of your other denybuild votes, it is still an insult. "floortrapper" would be a good reason ... "floortrapper and not responding to teamchat" would be an excellent reason. When you add reasons like that to your vote, the builder will know what he is doing wrong and can try to improve in the next round.
Teach the newbies in a respectful (and grammatically correct/spelled correctly) manner, get more skilled players and more fun for everybody.

  • I don't harass new/poor players except if they repeatedly show themselves to be not learning, and making the same mistakes over and over even when helped/told how they should change.

-Menace13
Speaking about making the same mistakes over and over ... how many times did I have to tell you in game to: "be polite please" ?

But, ive also denybuilt some fools who make floor trappers, because they dont know how to build, but if its illegal to do that now, i will not.
technically, we need a training server.
A denybuild vote with reason "floortrapper" is legal. Reason "fool" would be an insult and I don't want to see anymore of these insults.
Lately, we got quite a few newbies so a training server would be really great.

The whole Sir drama is around for quite a good while. And I believe it's because of GT - many hated them (still don't know the reason is that because of the outflanked basande guy?) and once they were gone, people had to find something else to bitch about. And look! Sir has appeared!

Can't recall any major problem with any of Sir member. They just play around.

I think that there are two parts to this problem. One is that Sir| clan members have repeatedly acted like jerks. Two is that people then act like jerks toward us, trying to pin us as the new GT, which makes moose/mustard/others get pissed and do silly things. Sir| got off to a rough start (annoying jerks got let into the clan.) and now that we've taken care of some of that, people aren't giving us a chance to change. We're I am trying to get Sir| to being a true clan, but no one else in the clan has done anything about it.

I guess I got let off easy on the "new GT" thing as I never knew GT to being with, so I have no reason to make a fight over a petty insult. :3

I too want Sir| to be a true clan, and I know moose and pup do, too. I think the problem is already simmering. Most people on US1 treat the Sir| members I see with respect. Pup, Moose, and I all play a crap-load of a lot (well, mainly them two :P) and people rarely have a problem with us that I've seen. It might be because we're pretty good at Trem ;P but I think it also has to do with our attitude...well, at least Pup's and Moose's attitude :3 they take a somewhat straightforward approach to the game IMO. They just play, but they know how to joke around and have fun, too. :)

@Lecav:
Sir| got off to a rough start (annoying jerks got let into the clan.) and now that we've taken care of some of that, people aren't giving us a chance to change.
-K
Note the "now that we've taken care of some of that" part. Every clan does some jerkish stuff, some more-so than others. I like to think that Sir| isn't too far down on that scale (not naming names so-as not to cause flame-/clan-wars).

I checked Tremstats, and I found three: Anonymoose(drunk), Anonymoose(hungover), and Sir|Anonymoose(drunk).

Personally I find none of those offensive, especially since DEDFUCKERHAHA was StevenM's name for a while with no problem.

Not to mention the fact that you (Tremulant) went by the name DrunkenAdminShit for a short time ;)
