Tremulous Magic
« on: May 27, 2011, 09:26:33 pm »
If you have never played the tcg "magic the gathering", you are most likely not going to understand this, but if you have, I hope you can enjoy it  ;). I also hope that this is the right forum, please move if it belongs to off-topic.

So, as a result of boredom and some strange train of thoughts, I present you:

Magic cards for tremulous. (see attachment)

I tried to make them at least a bit playable and not too imbalanced (although I think the basi is). I haven't made cards for every aspect of tremulous, but I think I have picked a nice selection.

As you can see, humans are blue+white (+artifacts) while aliens are green+red+black. The "locations" are colorless because I wanted them to be useable by both sides. The armor of the humans is represented by the creatures themselves, while the weaponry is represented by equipment-cards. There is not much to explain about the aliens (normal forms are mostly monocolor while advanced forms require more than one color). Currently, the humans seem kinda underpowered to me (they still lack most weapons). The last card is a dretch-token, produced by the egg.

MTG's rules don't work well with Tremulous's gameplay. You'd do better making your own card game. The rules could be pretty straight forward for anyone who plays Tremulous. (Of course, why would you play the Tremulous card game when you could play the real game?)

I know, I know. It was never really meant to be played (although I wanted to make it so that it would be, theoretically, playable). It was just some crazy idea I had and I kinda enjoyed working on it. I thought I'd share it anyway.

A novel idea and the pictures used for the cards aren't bad at all. I don't have much experience with these card games so perhaps I'm not the best judge, but I liked what you did to try and make the descriptions make sense with respect to both tremulous and the card game.

Thanks for sharing! :)

Looks sweet.

There is a spelling mistake on the marauder card "nothing can rip you head off with that much style". I totally agree with the flavor text though.

Tremulous pokemon cards.
Or tremulous can start its own card game. It will be called "Tremulous"
