strafe

I was not sure of a better place for this as it does pertain to improving my strat lol but does strafe actually do anything useful and if yes what because as far as I can tell all it does it doesn't allow me to turn

Umm.. you should be turning with the mouse. Please don't tell me you're using the arrow keys.

You should be using W and S to move forward/backward, as well as A and D to strafe left and right. The mouse turns. WASD with the left hand, mouse with the right hand.

Strafe is fairly useless. I believe it is a remnant of times past when people didn't play FPS's with mice.

I don't think he means strafing left and right, but rather the +strafe command, bound to alt by default.

I don't think it has any practical use, but it can be used for fine-tuning buildables and trying to walk on top of another player.
