Adjustment for late game balance - MAGAZINE
« on: October 11, 2011, 03:47:33 am »
Often in late games I find humans at a disadvantage. The aliens can target either the arm or the reactor. If the arm is taken, all humans with non-powered weapons are S.O.L. once they run out of ammo. This can nueter battleSuits and armored players. It also reduces the opportunity to manage cash since their are fewer weopan choices.

I propose a "magazine" a small structure that allows for the sale of any weopon, but can only purchase shotgun, chaingun, grenades, and light armor.  (no helmets or bsuits to help balance). magazine requires 6 build points. can be built in SD. there can be only 1 magazine. has 75hp. (easily destroyed. put it somewhere safe)

I think you may have failed to understand the purpose of SD.

fully understand the purpose of SD. when you have a good, long running game sevesral things happen:
1.) best alien players dominate their side of the game. the others are more likely to be in the way (block)
2.) at some point in S3 vs S3 the aliens decide to wait for SD.
3.) one side has a big advantage over the other in the last stage of the game.

And which of these points is the explanation for allowing humans who haven't defended their armoury to buy weapon upgrades, but not armour, to improve their camping ability at SD?
A good game is a game that ends with a decisive victory prior to SD, once you get to SD the game's been dragging and needs to end as soon as possible.
