Survivor, now that April Fools has passed, it's time to revert the foolery and continue with the discussions seriously.

There has never been a serious discussion on this topic and there never will be.
WRONG.

COGTWIDDLER !
oh well, i guess it was an April Fools joke to edit all the occurences of "Unvanquished" and "TremZ". Survivor, now that April Fools has passed, it's time to revert the foolery and continue with the discussions seriously.

Although there's been a bit of serious discussion at the start of this wonderful soap opera, it now has devolved to the point of a back-and-forth where the only purpose seems to be to put one's own favored group in a good light and the other group in a corner. This is possibly to garner transfers from the playerbase of Tremulous itself, and prevent people preferring the other 'other' Tremulous.

However, that is not something which needs to happen, and definitely does not need to happen here. If either (the inclusive kind) of the two groups makes a game worth playing then you'll have something to fight with. At the moment it's just two parties going at each other with those inflatable clubs, to try and see who blew theirs up the hardest, or can deflate the other one. That's not what this forum is about.

Thus I'll set the rules for discussing these two modifications of the game this forum is actually about:

Both groups are welcome to help and be helped in the forums of the 'Media' and 'Mods' categories, as long as they keep to the set topic for those forums.

And no, I won't change the word filter back just yet. It didn't even start on April's Fools day, I just used that as an off-side excuse to place it in. I think for as long as the two parties behave like fools we'll keep it in.
I’m busy. I’ll ignore you later.

... That's not what this forum is about.

the hell you say!?

a forum who's expressed purpose is not trolling and drama?

you are insane!  that'll never work!
Note 4: The best, although not always easiest, way to deal with trolls is thus: do not respond at ALL in the thread.
Main Rules
4.) No spamming or advertising (includes useless multi-posts and bumps.)
6b.) Do NOT harass other members.
  6c.) Do NOT troll!

I have just realised that Player1 is a genius. He started up a brilliant project to revamp Tremulous. This project gave birth to two new projects which are continuing his original goal. One of these projects has even produced something. This is a huge step forward for Tremulous.

Where is Player1 now? Nobody knows. But what I do know is that he doesn't have to deal with any of the drama going on.

No drama! Carefree! Wouldn't you like to be like that?

Fixed that for you.

but we offer the truth, while they offer bullshit.

the discussion between the two projects is none of your business. the relevant topics are even in the correct subforum: Off Topic. moving on-topic discussions (ie., off-topic discussions residing in the Off Topic subforum) has a slight touch of censorship, which is Paradox-like, SamOz-like, etc. behaviour.

And the other party will claim the same.

the discussion between the two projects is none of your business. the relevant topics are even in the correct subforum: Off Topic. moving on-topic discussions (ie., off-topic discussions residing in the Off Topic subforum) has a slight touch of censorship, which is Paradox-like, SamOz-like, etc. behaviour.
As a moderator the content of this forum is my business. When an entire board starts being overrun by different topics which have essentially the same core that is discussed, that board can be called 'core topic' board. And guess what, it's not called that. Yet still at the time of posting 12 out of 30 topics on the first page of this board have to do with either or both parties. (Where forum is all boards of the forum, and this board refers to off-topic)
As a moderator I can choose to move, merge, lock or delete these topics. Let's look at what that would entail:
  • Move: the topic will be lost to (some of) its contributors (unless I leave one of those ugly redirect topics which sink down the pages anyway), and there's not a good place to put most of them on this entire forum.
  • Merge:Coherent structure of discussion will be lost, which will result in a lot more discussion, and bad reference finding for the mudslinging later on (Which I know people will blame me for yada yada).
  • Lock: A new topic would be opened up, while the locked topic would be referred back to as source of this or that.
  • Delete: See lock, except source would be lost. More mudslinging.
Thus I choose to relieve the board by revaluing the discussion between them (not of either fork! That might go in the mod board), to one new topic in off-topic.
Stickied for easy access in the most appropriate board, from now on coherent for sourcing and linking/reading back. If you want you can even create an index post of the thread on the first page, and keep its links updated so the development of discussion can be seen. If anything I just made the job easier, while minimizing the in your faceness (with no harm meant to your_face) of all these discussions to other people who aren't even interested.

If you want to claim i'm an oppresive dick who censors stuff you're welcome to get reviews of my method of moderating from many old members here, or just read the above bit about why I did it like this. You'll soon find out I think about stuff before I do it, but hate typing up complex answers, because it takes time and people will find something they don't like about it anyway.
