Turret kills dont count for staging?
« on: January 02, 2007, 10:38:22 pm »
So now I've had a few games where human team was not really able to get enough kills for going to S2, while aliens got their kills pretty fast. I think both teams were about equally good (regarding known "good" players). In all matches aliens attacked soon (as usual and expected) while humans had to stay in base to prevent headbite feeding... But aliens were mostly killed by turrets, and only very seldom by players. And even if someone managed to hurt an alien, as soon as it jumped to a turret it got killed there and that kill didnt count for the stage increase.

Can someone explain how these kill counts are calculated? And is this handled differently on different servers? It _feels_ to me like there's some thing unbalanced, but I have not the knowledge of how this works internally and have no solution either... Some enlightenment would be nice.

Thanks,
Oliver

This has been covered in threads here if you search, but basically if players do more than 50% damage to an alien who is then killed by a turret, the team gets the stage point, otherwise the stage point is lost to the turret.

Sometimes as a dretch, it makes sense to hump a turret if you are shot to 15hp and doubt you can make it to safety, but when you do this, the human who shot you still gets the full 175 cash even though there is no stage point or kill credit given. Dretches that hump turrets after being shot to 10hp are feeding the stage advancement.

Same goes for humies, if you get a headbite but dont land the finishing blow, or even an unarmoured torso and foot bite, you can run away and still get the point when they step in acid or whatever.

I think humans gain credits according to how much damage they did, if you damage the dretch only a little, you will get some, but if you kill it by yourself, then you will get the full 175.

The full 175 is shared between the HUMANS who did damage. If you do 1 point of damage to a freshly spawn dretch and that same dretch now proceeds to be eaten by a goon/trampled by a tyrant/die from an overdose of turret induced lead/do a backflip in the lava etc..., the 175 will be shared according to the damage done by all HUMAN players, which is you and only you.

8 ) Teamwork is essential; it gives the enemy someone else to shoot at.
18 ) Make it too tough for the enemy to get in and you can't get out.

Should damage done by structures, FF, or the environment count against credits/evo???
Yes it should, so we can give the money to the OM/reactor so they can get better stuff.
