Hi people,

(Warning, if you download a map just for eye candy, don't read any further and switch thread)

Alright, to dima's request, I made a little crappy map on which he and anyone who so wishes can just jump around, make races, test a few things without getting too much fps lag.

First off, let me state the graphic SUCK bad. The first release is directly for dima and a few people who asked me, that do NOT care about graphic and eye candy. They just wanted a fast release with great fps.

Secondly, I'll have further update over time with better graphic as well as other things that would seem to fit in for training. There is no need to whine about the crapiness of the graphic, and if you feel like you don't want to see crappy stuff, then don't download it.

All you could say really is what kind of adds you'd want to it, meaning what kind of rooms.(Such things as rooms of pillar with different distance in between, crate rooms and others. I'm also thinking about a wall jumping hall as well as a trick jumping spot)

Thirdly, I'll list the downloads with the different changes as I release them(Of course, the next release will have full proper graphic with much more stuff)

Fourthly, This map is not about gameplay or graphic, its about training, and resembles what most of the current trem mappers have in their map pack for testing out new stuff(Well, like that times 100 in size)

If you feel the map should be bigger in lenght, tell me and it will be in the next release. Right now, this is as big as I felt it should be.

First release:
-2 levels with ramp
-crappy graphic
-wall without texture soon to be a see through force field

As my post states, very crappy graphic.
These photos are to show you the space you're getting to train.

Hope this is enough to show what I wanted.
By the way, yes if you stare down the long halls, those small dots are eggs/node(armory)

Stop posting about the graphix it's a training/testing map.

It's NOT the missing textures / eye-candy...
It's everything else that is missing here.

A map with some squared rooms a few pillars is just nothing one should ever bring to the public.

And if it was really ment to be only for 2 or 3 people then there was no reason to post it here.

I can't play it. Tremulous cant find it (of course placed in /base, even tried /map map-traininggrounds_1) maybe because it's just 190.62KB. Please fix this :(

E-Mxp:
You have to type: /devmap traininggrounds_1
In console so it can run.

vcxzet: Thats an insult to doom 1, Doom 1 as even better graphic then my piece of crap, and I'm the first to admit it. Though lava does like to flame, he as a point, IT is CRAPPY.

Caveman:
Did you even read my first post? The reason I posted this here is that a few people asked me and told me they were sure people would be happy for some room where they can train in private. I stated myself, way before I posted it, to everyone present, if it ever makes it into a server's rotation, I'd hang myself.
As I said before, when I next post another link, I'll be well within a 100 hours of work with full working graphic and at least twice the size with much more things to do. This is just so people can check out the immensity of the space given to them, and because it was a friend's request.

You guys can flame me if you want, but its useless. At least wait till I release something actually worthwhile >.>

Why shouldn't he release it to the public?
People asked him for it, so obviously they want it.
Therefore it stands to reason that other people might also want it.

If you read the first post you would know this.
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

Do not release a map which is just a box. If you want to see and play every boxmap entrepeneuring mappers have created for q3 you would take ages. If you wanted to make it interesting hunt down duelist. I guess kro or thorn would have it. It's untextured but at least more interesting than a box. Yet it is unreleased because it just wasn't ready. He could immensily improve this map by just giving the walls and ceiling different textures from the floor. That would at least make it a tiny bit orientating, which could help with training wallwalk. But the fact is this is no training map because no map for playing would ever contain that large a room with that little obstacles.
I’m busy. I’ll ignore you later.

@survivor
I did exactly as about half a dozen people asked me to do, a giant box nothing in it.
In fact, just 15 min or so ago, I was asked by a few people that tried it to make it LONGER and LARGER.
Which I'll do.
But, the first floor will be totally empty and the second will be full of obstacle.
I also stated that about 7/8th of the mapper have this kind of map in their own folder, though much smaller. This map took me roughly 2 hours during which Dima kept pushing me to release it faster.
I took a few random/common wall texture that everyone should have and just glued them on it without taking the time to make changes to them so they don't appear like they do right now.

I released it like this because I was pushed too. By the next release(Probably a few weeks) It'll be fully usable to do over a dozen things.

@David
Thanks for suporting me around these brainless morons.

What I'd like to know is why Dima wanted this.  Dima, why do you think a gigantic hallway counts as a 'training ground'?  :P

Make the walls less eye-hurty by making them flat, but distinct, shades of gray.

Since atcs is by far the map that gives me the best fps, I thought I might as well use those. But my next release won't be for a while anyway, so meanwhile I might make my own textures that would be better. I'll have to see.

This is a training map. You don't like to use it for training, don't download it. It's not going to be on every server's queue. So stop complaining because he's kind enough to release it for interested people. Otherwise just walk along. No need to insult etc. It's not like he forced the map down your throat.
