Error: SV_BotFreeClient: bad clientNum: 33551196
« on: April 17, 2007, 01:24:24 pm »
Alright, I made a basic map, put in some buildings and put in textures and did nothing more.

I D/L'ed Q3Map2Toolz, and Q3Map 2.5 and have put them in the correct places. When I go to compile the map, I click "BSP Vis Light" under "Build Options", because someone from another thread said to click something with those in it.

I click compile, it goes through.

I open Tremulous, type into the console: /SV_pure 0 --> /Devmap testmap

Then an error comes up saying: SV_BotFreeClient: bad clientNum: 33551196

What does it mean? How do I fix it?

Thanks.

Tjw's client causes that error, I don't know why but if everything is well you should have backed up the original .exe. Use that one or else start a dedicated non-pure server with your map and join that one.
I’m busy. I’ll ignore you later.

I think the last tremulous.exe backport by tjw that don't generate that problem is the one from Aug-02-2006. Newer backports have that problem, I'm not sure why too. I suppose it is some incompatibility between game.qvm and his backport due to SVN vs. non-SVN things.
Would be good a new backport compatible (read: that can start dedicated non-pure servers, like tremded do) with QVMs like the ones from Risujin or Undeference (Avenger).

Yeah, I have this problem too. It's annoying, every time I want to devmap I have to replace the .exe with the old one.

If I someone could fix this, I would be very grateful.

Replace? If you just named the original tremulous(orig).exe, have it in the same dir as it used to be and link to it it works fine.

I have an identical problem, except with a different client number.
Also, for a solution, simply remove any of tjw vms from you base folder.
Just hold on to the files so you could switch back as needed.

SV_BotFreeClient is a bot-related function. It can be called by sv_client.c, or sv_game.c (which is originated from a syscall, of which I didn't manage to find anything triggering it). I'm guessing this is a fscked syscall table. The function and its related syscalls shouldn't be there anyway, unless tjw is planning some in-game bot in the future.

Yeah, I had this problem, not with a server, just my client.

Whenever I tried to devmap my maps, I was getting a BotFreeClient error.
It applied to all maps I tried to run, I could join any servers no prob, it just had a problem with me running the map from my own client.
Strangely enough, I found a weirdly named .pk3 in my user Base folder.
It had a .qvm in it. I removed the .pk3 and bingo no more problem.
(I prolly d/l'd it when joining a server.)

This prolly wont fix this error for a server, but if it's only your client havin the problem, have a l00k in your base folders for any extra .qvm's that shouldn't be there.
