Do you have any suggestions for a new tag? Why not keep my nick on it?

Btw, what's the actual vcxzet nick on the forums? (I suppose PFB, but he was for f0rqu3 before)

Edit:
n00b pl0x,
I tried to merge the two files and I did it, but it was not worth, for three main reasons:
1. I needed to modify other files out of the Hud folder and would need to include them what caused a package size increment;
2. Anyway I would need to use 2 separated files, one for default crosshair and one for crosshair for all aliens (or 3 files, one big and two smalls for another approach);
3. It could generate new problems for Tremulous find/use the correct files...

The scoreboard contents are slightly too low for the boundary boxes on them. Could you fix that?

Awesome HUD.

Edit : I can't seem to be able to connect on some servers(pure? It work on SST). I get an error: menu file not found : ui/warrior.cfg using default.

I never got this with phreak's. Can you fix this?

Personaly I think all "new" huds are colour changes and change of layout. Of cource few have done totaly uncoo minimall block hud. If you want to be recodnized learn to be orginal with graphics. Soon we are hearing comments from trem regulars to newcomers who want to change hud and release them "just another colour swap", "Not another minmal hud", "Yay! I've always wanted to have my hud stuffed into center off hud" and etc.

this is not rant to your hud spificly... more like to all huds released.

None of the ideas expressed above are actually mine. They are told to me by Luthor and Ferdinand, the five inch tall space aliens who live under my desk. In return for these ideas, I have given them permission to eat any dust bunnies they may find under there.

kevlarman

you can't add new things to the hud, how creative can you get with that?
Quote from: Asvarox link=topic=8622.msg169333#msg169333Ok let's plan it out. Asva, you are nub, go sit on rets, I will build, you two go feed like hell, you go pwn their asses, and everyone else camp in the hallway, roger?

Yea, we can't add new screen items to the Hud without changing the game source; so, my hud is only a color/transparency/layout improvement from the original; and I'm not a programmer to be able to change the game source-code. Moreover, I don't see advantages in removing elements to increase visibility at the maximum, losing important information sometimes. And I'm not good at creating new modern images (graphics). Hopefully Trem 1.2 will bring some new nice Hud (Jex is working on the Hud).

Paradox

Warrior, you dont have to include 2 hudfiles to controll the alien crosshair, you can use what i added to the 6/10/07 version of my hud, cvars.
Add this block to each alien crosshair block:
cvartest cg_drawCrosshair
showCvar{2}
hideCvar{1;0}

That allows the player to set cg_drawCrosshair to 1 for human only, and to 2 for alien, or to 0 for none at all.

I tried /cg_hudfiles but it said the file couldnt be found..
Did you unzip it in the Tremulous/base file?
If you did, you only have to put /exec warriorhud.cfg into the console, or /cg_hudfiles "ui/warrior.cfg" would work to.

Maybe I'd add it to the readme... or should I make the package a .zip so people know it'd be extracted?

Maybe more understandable, but people should try to read the previous posts. That should me more usefull :roll:

PS: You quoted me 2 times!! I really start feeling I know more about HUD's than most people(EXcluding you ofcourse :D)
maybe Ill try to make my own HUD :D

    Version 1.3 (June-11-2007)
    • Thanks Paradox for the tip.
      • Players can now choose between three behaviors for the crosshair:
        • Crosshair for all aliens and for humans (recommended);
        • Default Tremulous 1.1.0 (crosshair for humans and for some alien classes only);
        • No Crosshair at all (disable crosshair for both teams).
      • Now, those options can be changed during games without needing to restart Tremulous;
      • Please, refer to the "Installation" section of the Readme to know how to toggle between them.
    • The previous feature allowed the remotion of two unnecessary files and some redundant code;
    • Reduced Advanced Dragoon barbs transparency a bit so they are better visualized on bright backgrounds;
    • Updated the "Installation" section of the Readme and added the "Installation Troubleshooting" section about a frequent problem;
    • Renamed "Readme.htm" to "warriorHudReadme.htm".

    thx warrior 1.3 is working for me. i unziped the .pk3 and put all contents into base folder then i did the /exec warriorHudNoCross.cfg cmd . i hope you keep making better and better HUD's :D

    TinMan

    Thanks for fixing that scores problem.
    You should add this to your HUD, it's an updated main menu so players can change some options without having to join a game:

    Of course don't have, if you used the warriorHudNoCross.cfg. For complete crosshair, use the warriorHud.cfg.

    Quote from: iuhnohtwopointohThe read me is down just so you know
    It's on the package too. So, open the .pk3 and read it there. Thanks.

    Paradox

    Oh, and for the alien health cross, you could use the addColorRange command, i am using it in the next version to change the ammo number's colors depending on amount.
    http://rfactory.org/hudexample.html is the one that tells you about that command.

    I am using it like so to change the color of ammo or make it go away on weapons without ammo:
    //AMMO
       itemDef
       {
         name "ammo"
         rect 285 255 45 11.25
         visible 1
         decoration
         forecolor 0.0 0.8 1.0 .5
     textScale .3
         ownerdraw CG_PLAYER_AMMO_VALUE
     addColorRange -999 0 0 0 0 0
     addColorRange 0 10 1 0 0 .5
     addColorRange 10 20 1 .75 0 .5
     addColorRange 20 999 0 0.8 1.0 .5
       }

    Warrior

    Paradox, my alien health cross already change color (green -> red) ;)
    About the "ammo number's colors" I don't see the necessity, because the weapon icon already change to red on low-ammo (maybe later I think on it again, if they don't release Trem1.2 before and break all of our cute huds lol).

    TinMan: I added it right now, but will wait some more changes before releasing the next version (I'm releasing too much versions lol).
