Tutorial Request Thread and FAQ

This thread is here so people can request tutorials for specific actions related to mapping. First check out http://tremmapping.pbwiki.com/ before stating your request.

  • All non-question posts and non-serious posts will be deleted.
  • Anyone can write up a tutorial and either post it here or link to it. If it does not check out it will be deleted. If it does check out it will be added to the tremmapping wiki with your name to it and deleted here. It may be edited a bit to fit the wiki format.
  • All answered posts will be edited to point to the solution, so most likely either a topic already present on this forum or a tutorial on tremmapping.
  • Double requests will be deleted.
  • Additions and corrections will be added to the corresponding tutorial with your name to it and then deleted.
  • First post will include an index of what has been answered in this thread
People who provide several useful and easy to use tutorials for new mappers may be awarded with direct access to the wiki.

This is all in an attempt to inflate the mapping wiki expansion rate.

would like to see:

-a guide to getting the trigger_class/buidlable/equitment to work correctly. (if anybody actaully has done so) (also example uses)

Are these enough or do you really need an expansive tutorial? -Surv

-your entity file should include _decal and _skybox entities, and you should have a tutorial on how to use these, eg to make blood that can go on more than just a single face. there is stuff on google but it would be much easier to have it collated here. (also example uses, like interesting lighting effects etc)

I sparingly use q3map2 entities and any information by me on them would be incomplete. If I get bored I might dig into it but don't expect it. -Surv

-a little guide to what people likes to see in a map. eg i like something about it that gives it an atmosphere different to other maps, even if a map looks crap i will be interested enough to download it if it seems to offer a new experience.
