Risujin just chose to compile a client for purposes of explaining the compilation process. You can choose what you compile by changing the Makefile, Makefile.local or make command-line parameters. However, I believe it compiles all by default so if you ignore steps #17-18 and compile, you'll have built yourself a qvm.
