I checked out that band Snow Patrol. What a bunch of wussies. "I'll just lay here in the dirt and whine, 'cuz I'm so emo it makes me cry." Every freakin' video is a dude whining like he's never been laid and his dog just shit on his shoes. One step beyond lame...

i use that band to relax and sleep if my roomate is snoring.

some harder bands to add to my list:
protest the hero (songs: Blindfolds Aside, Heretics and Killers)
killswitch engage (their newer singer's voice is so powerful) (songs: The Arms of Sorrow, The End Of Heartache, My Curse)

_Equi_: i'm gonna mark you down as a melodic metalhead, with tendencies towards big solos (guitar-wanking) - check out Helloween & Diamond Head

i tried to limit myself to just what's on the shuffle as albums (or e-mail's from this week), but there are lots of other bands on there too

i didn't even start listing the CDs or cassettes or MP3s or iTunes or LPs:
boogaloo, hard bop, BBQ, soul/acid jazz, metal, surf, soul, ska, bossanova, classical, jam bands, blues, west coast jazz, cool jazz, Hammond B3 jazz, boogie, 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s (just the CDs that I can see without getting up or trying too hard)

Quote from: KaleoSlayer
Iron Maiden
Metallica
Megadeth
Disturbed
Manowar
Anthrax
Led Zeppelin
Nine Inch Nails

That's what I can think of for now.

if you're looking for Christian rock, Red and 12 Stones are 2 bands off the top of my head that are better.

Add to the list underoath and skillet and the almost

Then take Underoath and Skillet back off (except very early Skillet, which was tolerable), and put Ghoti Hook and maybe Reality Check on there. I'll leave The Almost alone because I haven't really heard of them.

According to Wikipedia, Red is nu-metal and the singer from 12 Stones was featured on "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence--two very big strikes there. I guess I could still give them the benefit of the doubt, but it'd be a hell of a benefit.

(Bottom line, though, is that no music can really be classified as "bad" no matter how simple, popular, unpopular, repetitive, or seemingly stupid it is. The perspective of someone who's studied music theory for half his life and can name-drop bands that haven't even formed yet is no better than that of someone who downloaded ten Limp Bizkit songs from Limewire and calls them their favorite band. If you enjoy it, it's good music to you, and that's what matters; there's no objective standard of quality. It's just really hard for me to keep that perspective in mind at all times, so I content myself with halfheartedly ridiculing music I don't like. Just know that it's just fun and I don't really hate it deep in the core of me. :) )
