{0.15}(8) Skill in building, judged from .map.
The map itself looks put together well, but as can be seen ingame there are some things which must be addressed. There’s a badly textured brush bobbing in space which can be seen outside the map from the human base and the skybox itself has an error in a few spots. I can accept the brush but he should expand it a bit to make it look more than it is now. There are also some very noticeable texture misalignments and overall the map lacks true variation in texture colours. Supertanker has knowingly submitted a beta and pays the (slight) price for it. A very well implemented iris door however saves the day. Me thinks that he should put up a tutorial for it.
{0.25}(8,5)Bugs, inconsistencies, judged from playing and inspecting the map.
The map has some very noticable inconsistencies in build, as can be expected in a beta state. I can’t give the full points for it in this occasion. However, since none of them affect gameplay and players won’t really be bothered by them in a visual way I’ll still give a good score.
{0.3}(6,5) Gameplay, judged from playing.
The map is basically an expanded figure eight. This simple layout makes it easy to remember but also provides unimaginative gameplay. The humans have a serious advantage with the long hallways and the given fact that there are few hiding spots for aliens and eggs. An offspring of paths from the middle hallway might provide an improvement. In both hiding spots and gameflow.
{0.3}(8) Creativity, judged from looks.
The map itself looks very nice. The iris door employed in several occasions raises his grade and the non-standard skybox is a refreshing sight. Although the color grey is overused it
is a space station and that’s to be expected of metal. Some spraypaints, signs and sounds might improve the variety though.
Contender for judges choice with the iris door in mind. That’s a very nice touch from which future maps could benefit.
