True, maybe. I might have to research this. (read as: I'll take your word for it.)

i would prefer animations than blood.
anyways, many of us likes to turn of as much eye candies as possible.

while you could squeeze like 300 liters of slime from a tyrant with a grenade, i would rather see a close to normal animation of its jumping or charging, not to mention the nonsense basilisk hug or the marauder completely.

but ofc its true that covering things with blood is the easier way ^^

Nexuiz has sprayclouds of blood when you gib someone. Something similar should be implemented in Tremulous, if anyone can find the time to code it. The effect should be related to the power of the attack and the strength of the victim. If a dretch stands on a grenade which then blows up, I expect there to no longer be a dretch.

Well, as much as I like the insane bloodbaths in Nexuiz, the trem community appear to be split over this. I think a simple "gibitude level" setting in the options menu should cater for all whereby the gibs can be turned off completely, or increased until you need a quad GPU system to render it all.

Well, you get the option to toggle gibs in Nexuiz, but I would rather have more control than on/off. Eyeballs and blood and such are fine, but still-beating hearts? Urgh.

Nice pic. :o

Yes, trem needs beating hearts, quivering intestines and still twitching muscles.

How about the marauder lightning attack turning humans into skeletons if it kills them?

Okay, nix the eyeballs idea. There should be blood splats, but no other identifiable pieces of anatomy. And I like the skeletons idea.

Yes, trem needs beating hearts, quivering intestines and still twitching muscles.

I shall continue the list;
  • Limbs
    Heads
    Gall Bladders
    Bains
    Unxeplainable green bits
    Fountains of blood squirting everywhere
    Real time blood splatters

Look, I gave up on the organs idea...

Blood = fine. Organs = gruesome. Skeletons when zapped = interesting.

Skeletons when zapped would not be l33t - Tremulous is not Tom and Jerry.

We need GORE, we need severed limbs with cracked bones sticking out of them, we need everything on Kaleo's list and and we need long bits of intestines that hang from the tyrant's jaws when it eats someone, HUGE fountains of blood when you attack something with the painsaw, and when you 'nade someone it needs to look like the scene in Alien3 when that bloke fell into the big fan.

Not that much blood. When a nade blows up a small alien, I expect that alien to no longer exist. Yellowish mist would be interesting but rather weird.

It would be ok if a dretch could be blown to pieces (which look like the ones form alien structs with dretch color) by a grenade if close enough, but not others. Grenades dont kill by ripping off hands and feet, they kill with shockwave and/or tiny sharp high speed fragments. Also after getting killed by zap humans could have a small & short electricity effect around them a 3-5 times. Blood stains with size depending on amount of damage would be great. Also aliens starting to bleed when low hp until they start healing again, maybe + 1-3 seconds.

That's a way better idea than mine.

Wouldn't the painsaw blister-burn the wound shut?  (Like a lightsaber)

Gore is good as long as the option to turn it off is there.  That way kiddies and the 'mature' people are happy.  (Like \gore 1 or something)
