Wip Weekend Project: tremGirl
« on: October 25, 2008, 11:53:25 pm »
Its not much, sorry for making this tread  ::) - i would post in old thread "Human Female model", but sadly, it has been locked up :'(
So its not much but good to begin with. Made most of modeling and UV mapping*, most but not all. That's why i didn't post download file yet.
That's result of about 2 days (+ several more earlier) of work. I feel really tired :D

624 vertices, textured(so far) torso, legs - 512x512 jpg, head - 256x256 tga

i cannot continue making it throughout the week and i only get chance to put my hands on it in Friday / Saturday.

*i will add some more planes with hair texture and have to finish UV-mapping fist(quite pain in the ass... filling it with the other hand texture)

So write if you like it or not, any corrections needed? Ill post more wip renders later on :) :

things to do:

>finish modeling girl model(corrections, hair)
>finish UVmapping girl model
>making larmour and head in helmet
>finish texturing
>rigging
>animate
>put it in action(hopefully)
>enjoy ;) (hmmm feeling like i have already said it once...)

we shall see how it will be going...

Why not just use the normal tremulous model?

Her cleavage looks a bit big and her face is too angular. (it makes her head look really really small)

^^ What he said.  That shadowing around the eyes is a bit lame too.

Excellent start though.  Unfinished but it fits in well with the current clone soldiers.  Neat!

Ann, Circle thanks! I think it helped:

this time in perspective (orto made it look more plumpy)
i added also some hair texture(yes, this strand of hair in the front is sticking out from head mesh) and removed lame eye shadowing and fixed eyes themself =)
(ignore uneven skin, that will be fixed)
soon coming full preview to make it easier pointing out my mistakes

damn its so addicting, i got to need some sleep
gnight all!

This is a good start, definitely.

My thoughts and/or nitpicks (Mainly nitpicks):
Nose is a bit big, ears seem out of place, lips creep me out.
Also, the armor should be more streamlined than the male counterpart. Make it less bulky (I.E. Thinner), but give it a little more coverage area.

P.S. In the long run, this project is kinda screwed. This is why

thanks,
yeah nose is kind of weird, same goes for lips... ill try to repaint them, but its hard to make model look natural with limited verts. Agree also on outfit/armour design too.
>Its less bulky now :) curverage area may give some problems while animating, strange things may happend if we overdo this, that's my feeling.
yeah, seen this wip many times :) , but its all about experience i will gain when doing it(tags and other things). After that i may be able to do better things.
And when trem 1.2 is out anything i have started would be screwed - just not right quality level.

I'm not at all saying it's useless, in fact, chances are your project will be done well before 1.2 is.
Also, I think the different style is a bigger problem than the difference in quality level. With quality level differences, you just have to slave away at it for a while longer. With a new style, you have to start from scratch.

It's a good start, and with the right tweaks I think it could be a welcome addition to the game - people have been asking for a female model for years now. Also I can't help thinking that the polycount could be upped a little to smooth some of the blockiness since the average hardware spec of the community has increased since trem was released.

Good work!

...and in this shot she looks like she's just shaved a moustache off with a blunt razor.

How about a shot of that with more realistic poly count and render settings?
It will look nothing like that in-game.

< zaishaza> the body is high poly, but that's just a guide i'm using to build the low poly on.
< zaishaza> not sure of the exact poly count right now.

Isn't she a bit fat? I mean, she is not the athletic kind of girl I would think it's a soldier... Or maybe is just too much shadows under the breasts, I don't know. But the general impression is more of my mother than a real mercenary.

What you may be seeing is the waist/legs larger then the arms/chest making her look less athletic. If you compare the two images, you see that the one you pointed out has a less defined waist.

RedSky:
Perhaps thinning/shrinking them (legs) down so they are more equal to the arms?

The difference between stomach/chest and the waist (red-1 and orange-1). The legs seem a bit too heightful in comparison to the arms (red-2 and orange-2). However, as you have said,

her ass is too low
.
That may be the issue.

A female merc that has the bodily features of Paris Hilton is not the kind of merc I would want to fight alongside with. I rather have a somwhat muscular woman that is actually able to hold, and fire,  a Lucifer Cannon.

Probably somewhat later than a pencil-waisted catwalk model would have done.

...and unlike that movie, trem has telenodes.

Female or not, mercs need bodies that won't snap in half under the weight and recoil of their weapons
