My artwork
« on: November 11, 2008, 01:53:15 am »
I was thinking about what Tremulous would look like a with a Halo influence. So I made this sketch with a halo-ish feel to it.

Let me know what you think  ;D

Another work that took me a total of 5 hours to complete. This is perhaps my most complex computer painting yet (and my first :P). Anyways, it's a combination between a marauder and a basilisk...I think it looks sexy! Let me know what you think :D

1600x1200

I finished the Hold your Position sketch by coloring it. After sporadically working on it, it took me about 6 hours to finish all of it. It's my first full digital painting. I'm beginning to understand the concept of how the light effects different textures. Anyways, I'd love constructive comments!

*Slaps Chess guy in the face*

Chess, don't fall into Halo's tricks! Don't combine two worlds, it just won't happen! Run away from the Xbox Chess, FAR away. We don't want to lose you like..... *sniff*.

On a serious note, the drawing looks good. But the concept, pass.

You know...the only thing that's halo-ish is the helmet topped off and the visor. I guess you could consider the wall too....but the rest is plain tremulous :D

Tasty! Still rather Halo-ish, though.

Looks very nice colored. But I wasn't thinking of a theme like that....could you give me some tips on coloring?

Correcto Taiyo!

As for tips, I'd suggest just having ideas and trying them out. That's all I ever do.

Thanks for the praise (much appreciated :>) but when it comes down to it I'm still very much a noob to art. The main factor is how much time/effort you're willing to put into it.

chess, try to find how to make 'tasty' sketch lines.
instead of small strokes while finding the shapes, you could probably make more brave ones, because right now it looks... a bit furry :-)
look up some concept arts on the internet. lines needs to be tasty :-)

and ffs, why people are using tablets without pressure sensitivity set to affect the brush size?

The mauralisk looks awesome, but it'll have to look alot more feamale if I want it to gass my battlesuit anytime soon.  8)

Also, take Odin's advice on making tasty skecth lines, and I wonder, what about the mauralisk's head? It shold have something cool on it, something on its face or etc. Also, is it a Adv. Mauralisk? If so, it should have those electric currents be seen pulsationg through its body.  :-X

Oncw again, good job Chess guy! You are un-officially now Trem's new artist guy!

Ok thanks for the feedback. This was actually the first time I've used the coloring and shading at once...so I need to get textures down now. I'll try out the bolder lines...lol what you mean it's not "sexy" enough for your bsuit  :police:

Out of interest, were you trying to draw just one of them but decided it looked more like a combination of the two afterwards?

@ Nux: I drew a quick sketch of a basilisk, then decided the body was a little skinny. Instead of redrawing it, I thought about what it would be like if the mara and basi were combined. So I changed the leg angles/shapes and the body color/size  :)

Looks like Doom due to the scenery, and it also looks like halo and looks like Tremulous.
Halous: Hell on Marauder?

Well, gj, but Tremulous isn't Halo so I have mixed feelings about it. Also, why is he hiding behind a rock yet shooting, exposing his position or is he shooting behind a rock?  ???

@Chess guy: still didn't set pressure sens to the brush size :-( you can otherwise use selections and masks to keep up some straight lines so use them!
also you should practice some shading with simple shapes => drawing school

Lol just found this thread again. I've gotten slightly better since this through the concept art with the Unvanquished project. That was my first drawing with my tablet. I've gotten sensitivity ans sizing down now.

then you allready know more than Stannum XD

otherwise idn if you make pencil sketches first, but maybe it would be wise.
pros like Feng Zhu are also doing small(!) sketches first that is scaled up and then they start working with the details.
