hey guys! =)
i've got problems with open the console, i don't know if there's another topic about it, if yes, i didn't find it! =S
when i asked ingame how to open the console everyone told me to open it with the button next to 1 that would be "§" on my keyboard.
but nothing happens when i click on it =S dunno why.
then i tried to find the config file in the folders in Finder (i have Mac OS X 10.4.6) but i didn't find it. i found "cl_keys.c" and tried to write a command for console in there, but it didn't run =)
yeah, that's all i know and tried! =)
i hope you can help me =)
cya! =)

Edit tremulous/base/autogen.cfg
Add:
bind x "toggleconsole"
where x is the key of your choice.
-
I'd like the key next to the & key mapped to the console (as default in every game i know :p ) (Tilde)
In my Belgian layout, it's either ² or ³.
I've mapped 'toggleconsole' to ² but didn't get any results..
Do i need to use a letter?

This is crap. It cannot be used to open the console on the main menu and cannot be used to close the console. Console handling is a hack in Quake 3 and only works correctly with US keyboards.
Another hack is that you can get the console opened and closed by typing a ~ char, no matter which key combo you need to do it.

hhm.. The bind actually works in non-us keyboards (at least the spanish and the greek one). Not sure if you can toggle the console in the menu or not, but im sure you can do it in game.

That's the only one that works for me...on a german layout, it is "altgr"+"+" (the + next to Return, not on the numpad)

On my computer, I cannot open the console with the bind on the main menu nor can I close the console with it.

I can apply Christophe's latest patch and make binaries for Mac and Linux with it if you are eager testers.

Unfortunately, since "toggleconsole" is flawed, that patch doesn't solve all the problems :(
In my opinion, it works perfectly for all key actions except for opening the console. I would suggest another hack to make F12 work as another key top open the console before applying the patch for example :)

ahhh thank you guys! =) it really helped! =)
i just had a few minutes to find the file but i know where it is from other games! XD

Well I guess since he posts in the problems with open console! =S thread he has problems with opening the console.
Edit tremulous/base/autogen.cfg
Add:
bind x "toggleconsole"

It depends on your OS.
~/.tremulous/base for Linux,
C:/Documents and Settings/~username~/Application Data/Tremulous/base for WinXP.
Vista had some other folder too, can't remember it. Same goes to Mac.

For mac you can find it in: /Users/(Your Name)/Library/Application Support/Tremulous/base/autogen.cfg
