As time goes on, these mobile phones are getting more powerful. Look at the Nvidia Tegra or Snapdragon platforms that are coming soon! There is also a 1Ghz qualcomm chipset coming. Its not a matter of if the platform can handle it, its a question of when someone will port to it. Anyone willing to port Tremulous to Android?
Edit: Android is the future, I deleted anything related to M$...
Edit 2: SDK! http://developer.android.com/sdk/
If you buy devs (or Amanieu) a phone that can handle trem, they will port it for sure :)

I have PocketQuake on my WinMo based phone. I dare anyone to mod Tremulous so it works on it as well, using the phones internet connection. It could be a first (unless some other multiplayer game already works like this?).

Then there is Android, with a Linux backbone. Need I say more?
You might want to take a look at the Pandora videos depicting Quake 3 running on it. It's got an ARM CPU so they've likely written a QVM interpreter for it that is fast enough.
Who's in for picting together and buying amanieu one? i'd love to have trem running on my t-mobile g1
i'll try and compile trem on my Neo Freerunner. Odds are it won't work, since iirc it has no direct rendering support :(
dont these phones have an SDK / PDK for windows mobile.
Idk if they can be used since most of them are for VC and gcc but its worth a shot looking for.
Android SDK:

I really like Android better than Windows. Why did I devote 80% of my post to Windows? Being a mobile phone port for Android, you could publish it to the Android market. Didn't Google just give away a whole bunch of dev phones?
Yea but they had a history doing things in like... google summer of code
So, I am guessing nobody is willing to port this to Android?

In that case it would be: "Tremulous on STEROIDS!!!111"
But damn, android is nasty shit! Treatment for breast cancer, yet it can give women male characteristics.

Its kind of funny, we have always had the MS vs Apple vs Linux on computers, now its going to be MS vs Apple vs Linux on phones as well. I like Android better, open source for the win.
It's definately kinder on the pocket, but it will never win unless communism comes back into fashion.
Would be interesting to see the results of this, sneaking a quick game of trem while at work.

Android is like MS only parts of it are open source.

Sorry, I do not dope myself, so how the fuck should I know that it is a brand name for some testosterone replacement?
Because when you turn 40/50 its the last thing that will save your sex drive before you become dependant on using viagra/cialis

I was never trying to play trivia with you in the first place. You suggested that I was confusing two things, so I simply cleared it up.

You are right. I should take in less of that testosterone replacement. It is making me all itchy ;-P
Your name is really suiting TooL
Gameloft has a ton of games for android that look simular to Tremulous. So it could be done but maybe on a different game/graphics engine. ;)
You must be punished for your shameless necro.
I will call the guards. :police:
Actually, Tachyon had Tremulous fully working on Android by modifying Kwaak 3.
He lost it when his computer went out, but he said that he had also sent Superpie a full, working copy.

Only if it was out two years ago.
And really, I don't get the fuss around playing 3D games on smartphones. I installed Cube on my iPhone, and quickly deleted it because it was such a pain in the ass to play. For phones, at least, you're better off with Angry Birds.
what about a psp port?
I am thinking more of a 10'' tablet with a keyboard and mouse....
That's what I'd like to do.

+1, I've always thought this would be epic. Heh, I could play on my iPad with my iTouch as a mouse and the Bluetooth keyboard for iPad as the keyboard (duh).
So it's like playing on a laptop with a mouse plugged in, but you have to prop the tablet up on something and carry a keyboard around with you as well? Sounds completely win...

And the mouse doesn't comfortably fit your hand.

This is true, Android can run tremulous, but the main problem I had was the RAM. Even with 512 MB of RAM, superpie couldn't load any maps, I only got nano to run once on it. Which is why I abandoned the project.
Couldn't we make it to load the console of a game? So we could chat on it?
