Title: Caulk Leakage [SOLVED]
Post by: nudie on September 11, 2009, 11:49:01 am
For some reason I think caulk is showing up, but I don't know how.
This is the in game shot.

This is the GtkRadiant shot without the mesh

Anybody know why this is happening?

That happens when you have a dupe of a brush exactly where the original is. Happens to me accidentally all the time.

It's fine when I remove it.
I think there's something wrong with the texture/shader.

Why are you using caulk to provide player clip?

Err. Because I'm a noob.

EDIT: It turned out that it was the texture/shader's fault but I still don't know why. It works fine with a normal mesh shader.

Ook. You should be using player clip, (in common, the same as caulk.) This prevents any players from passing through but allows bullets n' stuff to pass through. Usually used to prevent details from interfering with movement, usually wall walkers.

It might have been cause you used structural brush with a shader that has black areas transparent, so the area behind it wasn't even included in compile.

Actually, it's good to use weaponclip/metalclip.

This can happen when you use a transparent grate texture on the floor when there is nothing under it. Just switch the texture in that little piece to the one that's on the rest of the floor. (select the surface of the small piece, then select the big floor area, then hit 's' and click in the texture path field, and hit 'enter')  Also, it is good to use playerclip, but if there is nothing under it, then keep it caulk. This advice is based on the first screenshot, as the other one seems to be broken.
