learn how to do awesome things
kill lots of things
play for 7 years straight
-
Well among other things, it would probably help if you had been a member of the forum for more than one day.
I have to say, I don't think there's any chance of you becoming a dev.
-
This is how you join team tremulous using your GPP client:
/team tremulous
-
What do you mean about that code??
-
Essentially, when you have enough experience with tremulous to understand that code, you might be able to understand how this community is structured. Essentially you'll have to listen to spork until you become known for your code.
-
Its like I play tremulous allot. but I just joined the forum yesterday. So I will need something like you just too join the team. Because Im getting pretty tired of the original models and guns, but I can Help out with improving them by joining the team.

In as much as anyone "joins the team", they do it by doing good work first, not the other way around.
-
Basically the development team of this game is a group of people that have been around for a long time inputing into the community worthwhile content that the majority of the other developers or Timbo decided to promote to developer status.
There is no application though if you were inputting a lot and you were interested I'm sure you could ask Timbo about it. You would, however, like norf said need to do a lot of worthwhile stuff first.
-
Yea I can do that. Just not the texture. Just the model. I can Pretty much improve that crap. No JK but Im not good with textures. I would just send it with no textures for someone else to put texture on it. But yea thats easy too me.
-
Show us. ;)
-
Ok it will look something like that. later. I will show It tommorow
-
Just remember to make it a low poly count like Stannum has more than likely done. We don't want a gun that is going to drain 50fps.
-
Ive just made a model like yesterday though... Just a little test... TEST
-
:o
-
Call it the SINR: Standard Issue NERF Rifle
-
It looks OK. How about a laser gun.
-
Reminds me of a spray gun. ;D Although most tremulous weapons reminds me of that...
But nice work.
-
Nice, just needs a cool texture/color :P.
-
All the curved and rounded parts make it look like a water gun. But nice work.
How long have you been playing Tremulous, that you are tired of the existing models?!?

I have been playing it for a year now. And I just want to Help out with the Models. Because They are taking a long long time creating guns and monsters when Its already done. By people. So Just put it in the game already but thats what Im saying, thats a reason ehy I want to join the team... U know...
-
Obviously a few design flaws, like you know the reload cock won't go all the way (The design of the gun prevents it from "shifting" down into the lower part of the slide, thus stopping it from releasing the magazine/shell/w/e).
Funny how I can't draw a line but I can criticize drawings. XD
I'm such a fuckin' hypocrite. ::)
-
A small bit to add... It looks really good for a test. With some decent textures it wouldnt look like a watergun anymore. But to nitpick, the cocking handle is pretty large, and the bolt assist stud is massive too. Also, if thats meant to be a GLA on the bottom, its a bit unrealistic for the short design, although it could come off as an NAD if it were a bit smaller :)

Is no one going to criticize the really crappy polygon misalignment?

Yeah... This is the sloppiest model I've seen for a long time.

Sounds good to me :]

If its REALLY a test it shouldnt matter. IMO it REALLY needs a semi -decent texture
-
Wait, wait, wait. So, you're saying that because he's trying to impress us, his half-assed model is acceptable? ::)
His "try-out" models should be more harshly criticized than anything else. It's an initiation. That gun is a display of sloppiness and crappy work. Yes, it looks nice, but it's incredibly poorly constructed.
If anything, I say he should put out his best work if he's trying to impress us.
I remain unimpressed.
The logic police have spoken. :police:

If someone says to me 'you cant map' I would whip something up in a few minutes to show I can (although if I had previous work available I would show that instead) like OP did. Mind you looks like OP hasnt returned to the thread anyways.

Anyone who says, "Oh yeah I am so awesome I can do this, this, and this" should have previous work lying around waiting to be shown off.
@ Firstinaction: model is looking good for a start. I hope you continue your work, as this community has far too few modelers. :P

If you can, in fact map, and have any prowess at it whatsoever, you should have something lying around to demonstrate your skills. Mapping isn't merely about pretty lightmaps. You've got to have no leaks, no overlaps, slick on your skybox, and the outside of everything has to be caulked. When you're trying out for something you're not judged based on the mere outside appearance of your work. The technical stuff's important too. You don't show up to a job interview in a suit with a shitty attitude and expect to get it, do you? Even if it were just the outside appearance that mattered, in this case, Firstinaction would get poor marks because of the technical screwups. There's misalignment of a bunch of faces, not to mention pieces of the gun jut out at odd angles. There's a lot there that simply doesn't serve a purpose but to make the gun look foolish. I think I speak for most of us when I say that we don't want someone doing work of any great importance if they can't properly demonstrate that they're able.
Not like he'd make the team anyway. I don't think they're hiring.
Though, I do agree with your face. The community's not got enough modelers. Put out some good work. Good effort, keep it up, Firstinaction. My ripping on you's nothing personal. ;)
