If someone says to me 'you cant map' I would whip something up in a few minutes to show I can (although if I had previous work available I would show that instead) like OP did. Mind you looks like OP hasnt returned to the thread anyways.
If you can, in fact map, and have any prowess at it whatsoever, you should have something lying around to demonstrate your skills. Mapping isn't merely about pretty lightmaps. You've got to have no leaks, no overlaps, slick on your skybox, and the outside of
everything has to be caulked. When you're trying out for something you're not judged based on the mere outside appearance of your work. The technical stuff's important too. You don't show up to a job interview in a suit with a shitty attitude and expect to get it, do you? Even if it were just the outside appearance that mattered, in this case, Firstinaction would get poor marks because of the technical screwups. There's misalignment of a bunch of faces, not to mention pieces of the gun jut out at odd angles. There's a lot there that simply doesn't serve a purpose but to make the gun look foolish. I think I speak for most of us when I say that we don't want someone doing work of any great importance if they can't properly demonstrate that they're able.
Not like he'd make the team anyway. I don't think they're hiring.
Though, I do agree with your face. The community's not got enough modelers. Put out some good work. Good effort, keep it up, Firstinaction. My ripping on you's nothing personal.
