You forgot the correct answer:

I think within a year we should have something.
After that they(I really hope!) will keep on doing visual upgrade and optimizations then well your done.
-
I wanted a serious poll :P
lol
-
Any time within 5 years sounds slightly reasonable. :-\
-
Next 5 years. The devs spend their time planning stupid april fools jokes.
-
What april fools joke? You mean trem wont be on xbox?!
jk jk

within 5 years is being too optimistic if anything. :p
-
The devs are clearly keeping everything they do to themselves and making appearances just for the sake of the illusion.
Just watch, there will be an official post with legit download links saying "Trem 3.4 released!" That'll be for us, for the next 5 years afterwords.
-
it seems that the tremulous progress is stopped, it would be great if the devs released the 1.2 models that are ready, and the community could improve them :)

No, don't you know... they are waiting for me to finish the sounds... none of them have no skills on sounds or the ability to install Audacity
:-P

It will suck when 1.2 is ready. So much of Tremulous' atmosphere relies on 1.2 not being released, devs need to keep saying it will come out one day and never release it, without 1.2 to look forward to, everything is so much more dull, and it's not really Tremulous any more.

LOL kinda like the iPad. Releasing it was the dumbest thing they could have done, it's not popular now.
-
What happens after 1.2 is release?
-
1.3!
-
I think Trem 1.2 relased in November 2010.
Octopus Paul say me it...
-
There is no options I feel comfortable voting on.
-
Models for 1.2 are almost done, so are the textures. Game play changes are still being developed buy I would say they are 75% done. Hmm... what else is missing? Well I say it would happen next year.
-
You kinda got that around the wrong way, game-play is done and models are not all that "almost" done.
-
just how far from done are the models?
-

Hell freezes over :P
-
Cmon 1.2 !!! :( when finaly ewww
-
The sad thing is, 1.2 will only hasten the growth of the 1.1 field....Seems that the playerbase for either the modified gameplay servers, or the server that has actual new weapons and aliens etc are the real future of Trem... The people on those servers arent always the nicest, but they have a welcoming attitude generaly to noobs etc....
1.2 admins etc are not always the greatest people... And the gameplay seems to be all that is changing... To many in 1.1 all 1.2 is, is a really prolonged and much touted QVM change... Sure there are some new model concepts and even a couple new models... but for it being HOW LONG???? Just for a slight upgrade, not a Trem 2.0?
Stop messing with 1.2 and work towards a 2.0 thats my opinion... Or start using the models....
-
It's the sound, dude. And what's wrong with 1.2 admins? We're
aliens people too!
-
I don't think tremulous will ever be relased

Look. There will be no 1.2. Everything is about waiting.

I hear on the news that the worst IT job anyone can have is a gaming programmer... no love or joy from the gaming community, they always want better, bigger, faster right now. The added fact that the trem dev's do it without pay and get the same grief that the community gives them... it's a wonder why they haven't ditched the project altogether. Having said that though minor official upgrades (1.1.1, 1.1.2 etc) instead of unofficial forks would have been good.

All too true.
Things will be a lot smoother if you just stop whining at them.
Don't ask when 1.2 is coming out every time you see them ingame or on the forums.
Stop giving them grief over every little detail that wavers from your vision of Tremulous.
Stop whining about the GPP gameplay even though you haven't played for two phases.
Overall, I have never seen such a hostile community in regards to the developers of the game.
I know in the Savage 1 community, the players adore the devs. They always give full support and compliments to the work accomplished.
In the Realm of the Mad God community, again, the devs are adored. Whenever anyone has criticisms, they post a method that could serve as a workaround or a new gameplay function. Also, again, the devs are treated warmly and kindly rather than "omg this is stupid".
I could say this about practically every indie/OSS game on the net, besides Trem.
Seriously people, just don't be pricks about it and things will probably be a lot better for everyone.
-
trem devs are either elitist or inactive, except <3 stannum
-
It's because this is the way of the Trem forums. I don't think this will change any time soon, either.
-
Personally, I'd help the team out if I could, but I just don't have as much talent for graphics design as Stannum does, and I can't code. If they need sounds to replace the non-free ones (I've heard that's the big show-stopper now), I'll see what I can do, but it just doesn't look like I can help.

What was the average time between official updates or the like, just curious?
