Title: deconers.....
Post by: Valour250 on February 29, 2008, 04:15:57 am: ok im sick of games where people get deconed and the opposing team rushes in and finnishes them off im mean in sd thats ok because they cant rebuild but noobs who rush in and finnish them off that honestly the gayest thing ever.... what do you think????

I'm dutch but I almost visit american servers only, seeing how the average player there is better and I got admin on 1-3 servers.

Now that is something I would like to see backed up by any kind of fact.

PS: If you play on a server which has Unlagged enabled, having a high ping matter a lot less.

I always play ~200 and thanks to unlagged its fine.
I can play better on American servers than the near by euro ones, because the stupid euro's have some irrational hatred for unlagged.

i recall reading a post on a european forum calling for the author of unlagged to be burned at the stake at sunrise and the ones who ported it to tremulous at sunset. i've heard similar (though less extreme) opinions from many european players.

But generalizing that the average US player is better just because the Euro's don't want to play unlagged atm, for which at least some of them have stated a reason, is just as silly and unfounded.

In the end it doesn't matter at all though, since any American player that really wants to play on a European server will most likely learn to deal with the lag, whereas a European player that frequents American servers will quickly adapt to playing with Unlagged. The good thing about having Unlagged is that it offers choice.

I was once on my server, testing out my binds, when a guy joined. I thought, well, lets play. Soon after i deliberately fed him to s3, he went tyrant and started eating my base. I started spamming nodes everywhere. He just kept on eating. He was one of those non-speak players who don't know that the /say command exists.

I swear, i kept on spamming nodes for like 30 mins before he timed out due to server overflow. XD

Technically, it depends on how you use the word. If by deconning, you refer to purposefully disrupting gameflow, then yes. If you refer to getting rid of structures, no.

One being the dicks and griefers who want the round to suck and laugh @ their monitor and then try to kick evade which then they later come back and do it again under a diff name and guid. The other being the new player or the ignorant player who doesn't want to learn or doesnt know how to play trem and decons because on the left side, it says "e" to decon.

A possible solution to this could be someone with a good video card and video making software to create a buildng guide video and have a link to it in the main homepage under FAQ or as a sticky in general discussion. this could create more awareness for newbies. This video could and should include descriptions and uses for all structures and examples of good bases and reasons why those bases are effective. This could turn out to be a long video which would make many turn away and close that tab. on the other hand, some could find it intriging and would gladly watch it.

sry bout bad grammar and spelling.. my 2 cents.

you should blame them some because:
1) just because you deconed rc doesn't mean that you were a deconer
2) [unless it wasn't the right qvm] he could've just reverted it and warned you
3) it's easier to blame someone else :D

I type for work. The last time I was clocked it was around 120wpm. It takes me ~60-90s to !pause, !buildlog, !revert, !namelog/!listplayers, !ban, !pause.

If you're on a server where that's done, just deal with it. I've kicked whiny noobs who just complain "UNPAUZ NAU PLZ" because they're too close to climax from playing a damned game to deal with the fact that someone's taking out the trash. It's a game. There have been plenty before it, there will be plenty more after it. If you can't wait a minute or two while some administrivia is being done, then my 1/2 hour ban on you is a favor to your brain while you get your ass up from the computer and at least walk to the fridge.

Seriously though, Deconers are a big issue. I lost four or five games in the first five minutes because some idiot said "REAC MOVE IN 4 SECONDS!!!". When he left, we started winning. Coincidence, I think not.

On Topic: I think this discussion itself needs some deconstruction (http://www.idiagram.com/examples/MR/deconstruction.JPG) (there, feel better?). And I have to agree with Lava, ChaosSquirrel: Please play on some better servers, or at least play a bit more before reporting on every new Trem experience as if it were entirely indicative of the long-term nature of the game as it appears to the seasoned player (one who knows that a player gets evocred for surviving two minutes, let's say).
