There are actually 2 types of deconers. The ones that do something sponataneously/plannedly to ruin the game for others. Then there are strategists/team deconers, who do something to either help the builder, distract the other team, etc.

Technically, it depends on how you use the word. If by deconning, you refer to purposefully disrupting gameflow, then yes. If you refer to getting rid of structures, no.

Deconning should never be used, especially if you just try to hurt the game. While stopping camping is one thing, I can do it by simply asking my (one) clanmate to form up and lay down a wall of chaingun. Heh. Fun.

Actually, I find it admirable not to swear. It shows something about your morality. Or at least keeps everyone from thinking you can't prove your point with clean language.

But, really, deconers are never in the right. Unless you don't use the standard definition and adopt my, deconers deconstruct, regardless of intent, definition.

to narrow out that deconners are just dumbasses... i think you could seperate them into 2 categories. One being the dicks and griefers who want the round to suck and laugh @ their monitor and then try to kick evade which then they later come back and do it again under a diff name and guid. The other being the new player or the ignorant player who doesn't want to learn or doesnt know how to play trem and decons because on the left side, it says "e" to decon.

A possible solution to this could be someone with a good video card and video making software to create a buildng guide video and have a link to it in the main homepage under FAQ or as a sticky in general discussion. this could create more awareness for newbies. This video could and should include descriptions and uses for all structures and examples of good bases and reasons why those bases are effective. This could turn out to be a long video which would make many turn away and close that tab. on the other hand, some could find it intriging and would gladly watch it.

Generally my opinion is that people who attack after a decon are nearly as bad, and I enforce that with votekicks, and where possible !kicks.

The first time I played Tremulous, I deconned the reactor not realizing how long it takes to rebuild. I got banned for like a week cuz I did that. Reason: "wow you idiot, learn to play before dooming your team".

you should blame them some because:
  1)   just because you deconed rc doesn't mean that you were a deconer
  2)   [unless it wasn't the right qvm] he could've just reverted it and warned you
  3)   it's easier to blame someone else

1) Well...I still lost the game for my team, didn't I? They would have won if I hadn't deconned the reactor.
2) I suppose it might have been a !revert-enabled QVM, so I guess this guy was a bit harsh.

Don't blame yourself. It's in part the game's fault. RC's should rebuild quickly. However, always call a move (preferably ask if it's ok) and you can save a lot of confusion.

I played two games in a row where the boxes killed our team (once reac, once turrets.) Not every "destroyed" is a decon, some are accidental. Especially in small, busy bases.
