I want to ask if someone from good mappers want to help finish my maps. I created Rotcannon, Boxfield and Mission One. All of these are almost completed, but they need more details around for better look and I am bad with that.
If nobody want to help, then I will finish them myself, someday and somewhat.

Those maps are AWESOME (in TremSpain we were fans of Mission One xD ), but I think that better texturing and details wouldn't be bad ;)
I'm starting with radiant now, but I get to a good level soon I'll be glad to help ;)

You need to fix your maps first in aspects of stopping to be gimmicky and only fun for kids with ADHS. You have learned a lot about map making too bad you use it on non-gameplay related features rather then creating a really awesome map.

i think his maps have brought a somewhat...... easier, more fun feeling to tremulous. sure they aren't a work of art, but they allow the player to have fun, and thats the point of a video game, isn't it?

Well, Tremulous is not a jump and run game, so I'd say f.e. Mission One does not quite fit the theme.

This maps are good, and with some more detail they will be AWESOME. That's my opinion.

Bissig: Like I said. I am not good maper. When I make common map, it will be commom + ugly look. No fun, nothing special, nobody will play it. And I don't want make common maps. I want to make special, interesing and gimmicky maps. When I played Mission One for the first time on Tremspain, I laugh+cry to death. "only fun for kids" that is your opinion, but I see Mission One and Rotcannon often (close to always) in server masterlist, so there must be lots of kids. And when was my server up and crowded, Rotcannon was played there 8 hours without map change. And there was players, who played that map that 8 hours continuously.
So, you maybe not like these maps, but that not means that maps are globaly bad. Someone like it, someone no. I see. And even if that maps are really bad, then I don't care. I looking for someone who like it and want to make their look better. That is all.
There is aroud enough very good mappers (yesterday I saw map Slimepunk - perfect mapping), they producing common maps, that fit in tremulous theme, I can't do anything in this league.
Lava Croft: Please... When you talking about shit, you should start with best server site http://satgnu.net/ where is absolutedly nothing, even server ip adress, so i can't try the best server on the world. Most important is W3C validator icon on bottom, but even there is nothing, then is there 15 validation errors (Result: 15 Errors, 15 warning(s)).

I want to find someone, who like my maps and can improve their look, because gameplay and balance is done. End of story. That have absolutedly nothing to do with quality of my maps or anything else.
On my maps suck only their look and low fps. Most important is playability and that my maps have. If you don't like it, don't play it, that is easy.
BTW, I mentioned that website, because you started talking about shit (and probably about maps that you never tryed to play, like Boxfield). And you have something like shit in your signature and I saw how you advertising satgnu server like the best. So, you attacking my work, maps that are loved by many players. On the other side you advertising "very good server", but when I want to try that server, I can't because there is (and that REALLY is) shit website and I found no server IP or any other useful information. In masterlist is totally mess, I not found that server there. So what is shit? Popular maps or unusable website, what you advertised? Before you start saying "shit" around, look in your signature. That is why.
I don't get how user like you can be moderator, when you itself starting offtopic, insted of deleting it. ???

@rotacak: The fact you cannot find any information on how to connect to SatGNU-trem makes you the first person that is unable to find out how to connect to SatGNU-trem. I think this says more about your abilities than it does about the rather shitty website SatGNU hosts.
In case you think I do not try out just about every map that is released on this forums, you are wrong. I just think that maps you create are worse than just a boxmap, since it seems you are making sure that you only release shitty boxmaps. By releasing all those insanely crappy maps, I feel insulted. Please stop mapping.

I almost completely agree with Opti for a change, with one huge exception:
I do not want to encourage him to make more complex maps, I want to encourage him to remove GtkRadiant from his computer and give up on mapping.
Asking people to 'finish' your boxmaps is the same as giving up, only I prefer to be honest about it.
I think the word 'finish' in this regard is more like this 'finish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatality_(Mortal_Kombat))'.

Pain for the eyes is that reason, why I seeking someone for help... If I will be good mapper, then I will seek nobody. If I ask for help someone to improve look my maps and reply is "you map look is crap, I not help you", then it make no sense. So, I think this is clear.
"You are simply too lazy" - I not have ability for detail mapping. One thing is learn to use GTK radiant, other is make good looking details. Also I have no time. I know I never will be good like Veddak Station, Slimepunk, Ancient Remains mappers or any other good mappers. It's common thing, when more people working together on one map.

Heh. I am webmaster, I programming in PHP. But I can't create perfect graphic. If I doing graphic, it take several days, many and many corrections and result is poor, or only good. Never perfect. I can trying to make graphic month and nothing will change. If graphic doing someone who known it, then he have work complete after one day and it is perfect.
There practice not help.

You can merely say, "i never liked your maps myself" and offer him advice (like Optimus), instead of being deliberately provocative. Seriously, do you know how to construct sentences in a non-offensive way?

Saying that you are not able to create such details is not true, you are just insecure, have a lack of selfconfidence and knowledge of your own abilities. All it takes is you opening your eyes, copying what you see into Radiant. When walking from your home to the supermarket, open your eyes and look around you. That little niche you see in the wall over to your left? Use it in your map. That small light you see on the wall on your right? Use it. Use everything that you notice about the everyday world around you, since the things you notice in your everyday life are exactly the details your map needs. All it takes is some time and some motivation, but mostly it requires you to stop whining and being content with your shitty maps.
For example, instead of a complete map, try spending the next 2 months solely on creating details for a potential map. Details that you can save as .map files, ready for you to copy and paste into any potential map you might be working on.

I was playing at Uranium and yeah it's shitty map mostly because this map is humanCampage-heaven. And i wouldn't say it was detailed. Trak's maps are detailed for me ;)

It is ability, that can't be learned unlike to learning programming, playing guitar or pian. If you think you can learn everything, then you must be really good.
I was in school with one friend, he was never learning painting, but if he had pencil and paper then he painted perfect pictures (people and fantasy things). I tryed it, but it looks more bad than this: :human: Is impossible for me make that pictures like he. I can improve my work, but still it will be only like this: :helmet: and take it several days. Question is, why is bad thing ask him, if he can make picture for me. He will do picture in one hour, in first try and it will be perfect. Instead of this I should learn painting many days and then create poor :helmet:? This have any sense?
Same case with maps.
I think that is common thing. Someone can make interesing map, someone make perfect details for it, someone else sounds for example. But there is many peoples who still have somewhat stupid reasons, why I should do this, or not do that. I don't understand.
Even if I would be really lazy and I would be able do perfect details, you should not care. I want someone, who will help with this. And does not matter if I can do it alone or no. It will be "his" decision if and why he will help me, not yours.

Is more detailed than my maps. Theres various pipes, lights and other things. But together it is no nice complex.

See Rotacak, your an awesome mapper, period. You make popular maps that are fun, you contribute to the online Tremulous experience. Thing is, Lava Croft never has never EVER made a negative remark in this forum (With a few exceptions ;)). He always mask his criticism so he can tell from the idiots to the decent members, its like a test, which from the looks of it, your failing at. Hes just saying 'Don't fucking say "Can someone finish my work for me" like a little kid who just loves to give up and let others do the work for you". The maps are yours, you should complete them, not someone else. He doesn't want you to give up so easily. Only you can envision what the completed state of your maps should be. Read this carefully;
Get your ass off the forums.
Boot up Radiant.
Finish the maps yourself.
Comon Rotacak, your already this far from your work, your like an inspiration for jump maps. Work on one map at a time, take Lava's advice and make your maps look better, and hopefully bump the FPS a few notches. If you can't do this, I really do hope you will un-install Radiant from your PC.

The main point that OP seem to have missed is that the amount of work needed to "gribble" his maps is so large that it will no longer be HIS map. The only thing he will qualify for is a note in credits "idea by rotacak".
IIRC when I was working on the triggers I had to decompile some of his maps, since they seemed to be trigger stuffed and a good testing ground, and I ought to say, that if someone will agree to "finish" his maps, he will have to completely re-work them, rather than improving the current brushwork.
As for the drawing, I will tell you a secret, genious is 5% talent and 95% hard work. By asking for someone to finish YOUR maps, you are insulting the rest of the mappers. Ask for HELP, ask for Explanation, do not just ask for someone to take led and make gold out of it.
A good example would be nos brain and your face.

I am again suprised how this comunity works. Milion reasons why not to do something for us from peoples who even cannont do that. It's llike "I must do fast reply, and said anything, but mostly - nobody must help him. I must say I was decompiled his map and who want help him, must rework whole map. It is nonsense, but it maybe damp someone who want to help, hehe.".

Rotacak, you fail to understand a few things:
1: Neither NOS-Brain, nor Your Face, has made a public thread on this forum, in which they ask to community to 'finish' their boxmaps.
2: Nobody here has ever said anything even remotely related to "you cannot have more than one person working on a map", rather, you twist words in a futile attempt to gain another argument for your lost cause.
3: Your attitude is one that surprises me, since you come across as someone who does not take any kind of criticism related to his maps, or, which in your case is even more scary, you actually think your maps are well-built. Not even the honest words from people who have far more mapping knowledge and skills than you most likely will ever possess, seem to reach you.
4: Instead of suggesting to people that they reread your first post, I strongly suggest that you actually read the replies people have posted to it.

Asking a group of people to finish maps that you have not finished is not working together. Collaborative mapping is when two or more people work on a map and stay in contact with each other, giving suggestions etc. Working towards a same goal. Look at Face and Brain, or Odin and Tanker.

Rotacak, you have the potential to become an incredibly good mapper. Not everyone does. You have the talent. Just take the time to fine-tune your maps. Work on it a section at a time, fixing every flaw you can find. Don't give a damn about how long it'll take, just do it.
Asking others to complete your maps for you is like saying "I'm not good enough, but you are, so do it for me". Raise your self-esteem, man! Anyone can make a friggin' awesome map. It just takes dedication. Once you start something, you'd better finish it, or else people will call you lazy/untalented. Fact of life.
In short: Finish them. You can do it.

If nobody want to help, nobody want to work on these maps, nobody want improve their look, then nobody will do that. That is all. I don't know why this thread have two pages. There should be only replies "contact me, I want to improve their look, because I like these maps" or no replyes at all.

HI Rotacak!
You maps are very playable and fun and that is important in every games, that is the reason why the old 8-bit games so still popular. When i need fun i play often rotcannon, and i not need to good play eye candy maps, remember! When i need relax on some maps i going to map Sirius, Temple, Abyss, Thanatos or GROUND SOURCE thats maps which very nice, but not so playable.

Why don't we stop: if he wants someone to finish his maps, let him have someone finish his maps. Geez, it's not your decision to make. It doesn't make him a "worse" mapper -- it just means that he might not have time to finish the maps or might not want to take the time to finish them.

ON TOPIC: rotacak - I think if you read some of what some of these people are trying to say again, you may see that they are trying to offer you good advice in their own idiosyncratic way. Forge on. I hope you find either the partnership you seek, or a new perspective on comments offered here which may seem harsh, but are really meant to be brotherly admonitions of tough love.

Hmm. I normally don't do this, but given the flood of negative remarks, I suppose I ought to speak up.
I personally enjoy Rotcannon. It's eccentric, has four to five workable base placement options (for each team) that I've seen, and is much less open than the other cannon map that is most commonly used (pushcannon.) The elevators, jello safety net, and button activated cannons allow for a different style of play from other Tremulous maps.
Granted, it isn't ideal for the overly dull and serious gamers who only play atcs, but... idk, I find it refreshing.

Kaleo seemed rather interested at trying to add a bit more detail to mission one a little while ago. You might want to give him a pm and ask him if he's still interested.
I've only ever played your mission one map and it was rather enjoyable (excluding the start of aliens and the end area where both teams fight).
If you ever do find someone to help you make your maps prettier then it might be an idea to stay involved in the process. There's no telling what you might learn.

I was send PM to Kaleo, but without response.
I will be involved in that anyway. I want to replace all textures with original ones (not from tremulous maps). I will collect that textures and maybe I also apply them. I need primarily details and nice lights (new shaders).
BTW, that final room for fight isn't best, but it's for fast fight. Many players talking about unbalanced, humans always win. Not true with no unlimited BP. There is very important team, more than somewhere else. Also you must build better base in stage 2, if you building in blue/red base, is needed to move rc/om up. Aliens can do this also in stage one. But moving om/rc is dangerous in so small map. That is reason why good team is very important. Ofcourse, if aliens have only two eggs on the floor and humans use grenade, then aliens lose very soon. But that is aliens fault, not map fault. In final base is more strategy than it seems. But true is, there are only two base locations and very ugly. I was tryed improve it, but then I deleted all, because that changing blue/red bases causing big disbalance. Don't know how to improve it yet, but I will learn it, someone said to me here ;)

ghostisback: Thanx, but I will deal with that. I want make both bases identically and that is hard. I only need details, better walls atd. in whole map.

Suggestion... Some of the void leaks through in one of the Pushcannon bases, you might want to fix that.

In one of the bases, when you look at the wall, the void leaks through. I think it's the human base, although it could be the alien one as well.
