The Dreaded "Third Race" mod

well, to tell the truth, it would be nice to draw for a concept what has this semi-serious modder force behind, but i have to admit that i don't really like the mainframe of the whole thing.
it's a little bit hard to explain but for example, i generally hate the centaurs themselves, or any kind o merfolk. and i feel like throwing up when seeing a humanoid but animal-faced character :-)
it's even worse as i didn't follow the process of findig this whole thing out so i might be wrong about it.

for the japanime-line, i'm really a conservative gits-akira-ninjascroll-triumvirate beleiver so idon't really see the abovementioned charactres fitting into my poor anime knowledge.

as p1 mentioned doom as the jolly joker of any arguement regarding if daemons should fit into tremulous, let's quickly mention doom3 as a project where sci-fi is well mixed with monsters.

i think that a third race should differ more from the current two races, as far as i see now its now more like a mixture of them.
i also don't see the evolution structure in it. how can a fox headed fairy transform into a yeti mofo? can it transform back? how?
aliens have this linear shit, humans weaponry is a good range of attachments, but i don't see the daemonoid stuff fitting there :-(

also, there were many rather interesting ideas around the forums, like the "infestation" (controlling the enemy for a while), teleportation (hovelports and portals), moving main structures (om-backpacked tyrant), flying creatures what are more like filling gaps between two races.


probably most of the things i just said are total bullshit because i couldn't ran trough the zillion pages of the concept, and it's very likely that i'm misunderstanding stuffs.

Actually you do have a point. Maybe we could tweak the current concept so that you spawn with one of the six classes, and you use your evos/credits/whatever to evolve into a more powerful form of your class, or buy addons/upgrades. We could maybe also add a S2/S3 building that allows you to switch from one class to another (question: do you get to keep the creds you spent on your upgrades for this class?).

That is exactly what we have
We could maybe also add a S2/S3 building that allows you to switch from one class to another (question: do you get to keep the creds you spent on your upgrades for this class?).

I like this idea, good thinking.

(IDEA 1) So, for this third class, you could start off as one of four, or three, or two classes, and then, throughout the stages, evolve through a tree, with the ability to evolve to whatever is on the branch adjacent to you.
(IDEA 2) Or, maybe, there could just be a very linear evolution system. You're either the blob, the hound, or the builder, but throughout the stages there are new upgrades for each class, slowly filling out an upgrade tree. So, the blob is always the class based on health, but you've got the blobs that just tank with five, six hundred health, and then you've got the 300 health blobs that move fast and hit hard.

I am in favor of idea 1, though it will take an intimidating amount of work. Perhaps we should bookmark this and add it in later versions?

So. Even though I was redirected to your new forum, I had trouble with your topics etc. so I decided to just apply here. I don't have the budget for max/maya and blender is too confusing and I'm too lazy to learn it so I want to help with 2d art.
