Knife as secondary weapon

It can be great if humans can took knife as secondary weapon. Why? It can be great for small aliens, but poor for big.  Players cannot destroy enemy structures using knife.

How would it be different from the blaster?

And why would it be better than the blaster? The blaster can be used from a distance, whereas a knife would need to be used up close. Of what particular alien would you feel confortable getting within arm length distance?

It could be useful for truly epic kills involving the throwing of a combat knife over the center castle in ATCS and killing a Tyrant running from a chainsuit.

I think that the knife wielding players will have a harder time taking down an alien than they would we with the blaster. Same as the comments above, the knife is equivalent to the blaster, you either kill things with it or you pretty much just feed aliens a plethora of kills.

PS: I would rather not be flamed, just my opinion.

this won't work for one specific reason, timing. By the time you whip out your knife and stab at the dragoon, it has already pounced on your slow-reaction ass. The same goes for all the aliens. Speed is the downfall of humans. They just cant outrun the aliens.    . 'Sept for grangers. You may want to spend hours coding a knife so you can beatdown a granger.
When was the last time you saw someone knife an alien in any kind of game/movie/television show?



My point Exactly. Not that this isnt a bad idea!!! Someone may want to make a server where aliens have no attacks and have to try to survive a certain time limit. The humans could have knives only and must defeat the pathetic aliems.

1st: No one will be making a knife in the near future. At least I don't think anyone in this thread will be rushing to Blender to do it. Chill.
2nd: It would take just as much time to switch to your knife, as it would to switch to your blaster. The difference would be that you are using a melee weapon. People have had blaster kills before, so why not knife kills?

because Knife is melee. The speed and power of an aliens attack would sheer surpass that of a knife. Unless the knife were to be rediculously overpowered. In which case there would be no need for other weapons if you could kill them without having to waste credits on weapons.

In fact, the more I think about that whole Survival Mode game-type with the knives and surviving aliens the more I like it! I may just start a thread about game types yet!

thats an amazing idea but how about something like a melee attack kick or smash of course it is useless because there is already a blaster but im sure it would make fun to kick dretches away  sometimes the blaster doesnt work excample whenn you r rifle is reloading but you cant use the blaster... is this a bug?
