Macbook Pro
« on: April 23, 2009, 04:20:51 am »
I've got a Macbook Pro 15" with an ATI X1600 vid card, that has run the mac build of Trem just fine for a while.

I haven't played for a while (months), and have installed many programs and many software updates since I last played, and when I tried to play today, the screen flashes, and looks similar to when the Mac changes from one resolution to another (screen goes black, then shows, then 'stretches' as needed), but does so repeatedly, and looks like it is flashing between black and my desktop.

I'm having a real problem identifying what is causing it.

I've tried removing ~/.tremulous, I've tried downloading the original client, and the mg client, all combinations do the same.  here is the console output:

Any ideas what might cause this?  It looks like it starts at 640x480, then tries many others.  Also, looks like there is some sort of problem where it says 'invalid code module', and the finally OpenGL fails because it couldn't get the mode right?  Dunno.

I'm up to date with my Software Updates.

TIA for the help,
SilverFox

Only fix I've seen is reverting to an earlier version of OSX (from 10 minutes of googling)

wow, that is relatively sucky.

What'd you find?  I've searched but haven't found anything.  I've seen other OpenGL apps work ok (xbench), so I know it works, but I'm guessing an update introduced some sort of incompatibility with Trem.

Maybe if I can identify specifically what is causing it, I may enlist the help of someone to help patch the client for me?

Perhaps you could try compiling your own? </stabinthedark>

Note, however, that this is not a task for the faint of heart.
