Mapping Issues...
« on: April 24, 2009, 03:20:04 am »
Problem 1) I can't seem to get my human layout to work, only the RC and 1 node will show up....Help?[SOLVED]

Problem 2) When I try and Compile my map (As shown here) I can't seem to get a usable .pk3[SOLVED]

Problem 3) If I test build my map, and it's saved as valkyrie(The name I want) My Textures get all messed up, but if it's saved under a different name it works fine.[Still messed up]

EDIT: Just tried it in-server, and my textures got messed up again.....I suspect it may be Q3Map2Toolz, but If I could get a confirmation?

1) Make sure the structures don't intercept with any surface + I think Human buildables wont spawn on any slopped surface. Also ensure Telenode and Armoury have ample space around them (Specifically the top for the telenode). Screenshot from editor would be handy.

2) Not sure what your saying here.
Renaming a .zip to .pk3 has problems (At least for me it screws up), I've always used Pakscape.
Make sure the layout is correct (maps/MYMAP.bsp etc)

3) Not a clue sorry, I've never had such a problem.

1) They're above it, I tried moving them 2x as High(About 2 squares above the ground now) and it still wont show up.....

2) I've been trying to use Q3Map2Toolz, but the .pk3 won't show up in my list or anything, and when I use my copy of Tremfusion or another copy of Trem, it wont work at all....

3) Yeah....

Ok, I spaced the human base out more, so now it works, except the rets aren't showing up....Oh Well...
2) Here is a .pk3 that has all the stuff I think, but it doesn't show up in my list of maps for the create server thing If this is right, that's awesome and I obviously don't know what I'm doing

3)Ok, Nevermind then, I'm just using a different name, and its fine

2) It doesn't show up in the list cuz .arena file has to be in .pk3/scripts subdirectory.

With the .pk3, yes I think. In the map tho:
Doors that should move together need team key with the same value.
You should texture everything in common/caulk, then retexture whats needed. In preferences check Brush->"Always use caulk for new brushes" and Clipper->"Clipper tool uses caulk".
Stuff in the human base is lit with lights from below. I guess that is because your lights are inside brushes?

The lights are half in the light textures on top....I'm not sure what you mean by below?

Lights from the dungeon/caves below. If you use entity lights, don't put them even halfway inside a brush. Usually shader lights give a better look if you can find/make them.

Read my post to other question:
http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=10771.msg164981#msg164981

It may help you... In my case, when I tested my map in a clean installation some textures were not there...
So was kind of hard to find out why was the reason...
