Question for tjw
« on: July 04, 2006, 11:38:00 pm »
I assume you're the tjw of tremulous.tjw.org - if not, this question can be answered by anyone with authority at that server.

Anyway, who is john and why is he an admin?  Every time I play with him at tjw he teamkills, shoots his team's equipment and generally makes an annoyance of himself... and he can't be kicked because he's an admin.  Is he someone's kid, maybe?

tremulous.tjw.org is consistantly the fastest server for me and is usually home to some great games but this is intolerable.  Any help?

He's my 4-year old son.   He usually doesn't cause too much trouble unless you provoke him.

You let your 4-year-old kid play 3D shooters with blood and aliens and stuff? Hell, when I was *9* I sometimes didn't want to go to the toilet because I was afraid an alien could come out of there. And I didn't even know what a 3D shooter was until 11!

I don't know.  I was playing some pretty violent games when I was his age :)

You laugh, but trem and outlaw are infinitely more similar to each other than either is to reality.  In 20 years, people will likely look at trem screenshots and think they look equally ridiculous.

(This post completely ignores everything between here and tjw's post)

Well, I can understand that your kid's fun on your server is a higher priority that anyone else's.  From a non-parent's perspective it's pretty frustrating to play with him, though.  I know you say he doesn't tk much unless provoked but I've never played with him and not gotten shot.  I don't mean loose aim crossfire, either.  I'm talking about walking in front of you, turning around, taking aim and firing directly into your face.

I don't expect, nor am I asking for, any changes.  I mean, it's your server and your kid, right? - you can do whatever you like with both.  Just thought you might appreciate a player's perspective.

On the up side, I've found some other servers that work pretty well.

tjw is merely thinking about the future. Playing Tremulous at 4 years old, that would make you pretty good at 8 yesars old, that's for sure ;-)

U guys are cute. Playing sega when 4 years old.
When I was 5, my dad got me a brand spanking new Commodore 64 (C64-2)
and before that I had the Atari 2600 where for the first time in my life I layed eyes on Space Invaders, Breakout and pac-man.
Loved playing Commando on the C64.
Sega MegaDrive didn't come out till a few years later.
Yelling at team mates since 2006!
