issue
« on: May 02, 2009, 02:37:08 am »
I'm getting the open gl issue now i know that it is in the FAQ but those options wont work for me seeing as i can't update my video card drivers.  I've been doing some reading on the forums and it appears you can also solve this issue by removing some lines of data from the base folder of the game.  could someone please give me step by step instructions on how to do this?

You just need to open autogen.cfg in notepad.

Have you successfully ran trem before (and changed some setting maybe)? If you have any client newer then 1.1 (like tjw / MG / TremFusion), then the file should be in Documents and Settings/user/Local Settings/Application Data/Tremulous/base (or something like that).

If you're running Windows make sure that you can see hidden files and folders before you search.

wow this is really pissing me off.  i searched and made sure to search in hidden files/folders and it still can't find it.  I've tried the game on my other computer and it still has the same error. can you guys just tell me how to find it and delete it myself(with notepad or something?)

Since you are on Windows you should have two Tremulous directories. I'm not sure in which one the "autogen.cfg" file is in though.... probably the second one.

One is at:
C:/Program Files/Tremulous/base

And the other should be something like:
C:/Users/(Your username)/Temp/App Data/Tremulous/base

I'm not sure about the second path, so look in there somewhere.

If in the search window you had "search hidden files and folders" (or something similar) checked, then yes.

well i did have those checked so does this mean that it isn't even in there at all? now what? why does it have to be so much work to run a single game?!?!? i wish there was a version of tremulous for PS3.

If you've made sure to make hidden files and folders visible, then you should be able to find the second folder just by browsing. And don't blame the game, blame your OS.

Have you actually successfully started trem yet? If your problem really is caused by changing to too high resolution, then you can also change the shortcut properties and add
Code: [Select]
+set r_mode 3 to the end of the Target field (I think, someone on windows correct me if I'm wrong).
