Transit StationPart 1/3Part 2/3Part 3/3Private Jay Cool of the 2nd Marine Division out of Toronto, Canada didn't remember where he was. It didn't matter though, he knew he was on a mission and had to act fast, especially against an enemy as terrifying as the Marauders. He felt around at the ground until he could find his marine issued Assault Rifle. Once he found it, he got up slowly, his unprotected head throbbing in pain, and looked at what lay before him. Whatever had happened caused the wall behind him to completely collapse. What was even more troubling were the army recruitment signs that surrounded him, "Tumbo 66 - Destroyer of Worlds", "Only losers still use the older models..."
"What is this?" he wondered, "do they think this is some kind of game?"
Jay moved slowly to the other end of the room where there were a pair of nonoperational escalators. Hesitant at what lay below, he proceeded cautiously down the one to his right, watching his every step. It was at the bottom of the escalator on the white tiled ground where he first found his fears justified: a pool of blood.
"Christ," he breathed, "they must have gotten Freak!"
His assumption was correct. To the left he saw the body of his comrade Matt "The Freak", dead.
After putting his friend to rest, Jay decided to get a better idea of his surroundings. From the looks of it, he was in some sort of station. The Departure Board above him was still operating, giving up to the minute departure times, yet Jay looked around and saw no one but himself. Confused, he turned back the way he came until he arrived at a hallway with a staircase. At the bottom of the staircase he saw yet more blood. He knew what lay ahead wouldn't be a pretty sight, but Freak would have gone on, so he would too.
At the top of the staircase he came to a door. Always the cautious one, Jay sprinted up to the door and jumped back, anticipating a swarm of dretches, yet none came. Instead of dretches, he found something much worse.
It was a generator of some sort, covered in human blood! The blood must have come from dozens of human bodies judging by the inches thick pool that surrounded the generator. He walked to the other side of the room, looking for the source of the blood. Then suddenly, he heard the sound of the oh so agile enemy breathing heavily as they hopped up the stairs towards the door. Jay crouched, and fired a clip into the door as soon as it opened for the first marauder.
Two marauders jumped in immediately, the first severely injured by the 30 round clip that Jay unloaded into it. The second was attempting a flanking maneuver as the first retreated back down the staircase to regenerate. Jay decided to retreat to a better position, and took a chance going through a door he had never been through. The door opened to a long, tall staircase. Jay used the staircase to his advantage and sprinted up, leaving his back vulnerable to the marauder. Fortunately he was able to crouch just in time as the marauder flew over his head.
Jay loaded his second clip into the Rifle and unloaded it into his enemy. The marauder tried bouncing on and off the walls to throw off Jay's aim, but the seasoned vet missed few of his shots. By the end of the clip the mara was squealing in agony, trying to go back down the stairs to escape certain death, but after unloading most of his third clip, Jay put the marauder out of its misery. Jay waited a few moments for the second marauder to appear, but after several minutes it did not show. Jay checked his ammo belt: one more clip, and with the rounds left in his rifle he guessed he had thirty-five, maybe forty shots left. He would be taking a chance if he went after the marauder down there, but he couldn't just hold his position forever. Reluctantly, he continued up the staircase and down the bending hallway until he reached another door.
The room he entered was wide open, with boxes on either side, possibly a warehouse of some sort. At the far end of the room he noticed a railing. He walked over to it and looked over, and realized he was already on the top floor of the complex and still hadn't found any sign of a living human being. He knew the marauders were powerful but surely...
"EEEEYYYOOOOOH!"
A dragoon! Jay knew of the terror of the dragoon, and knew having his life ended by one was no way to die. If only...
The railing! The taunt was getting louder, the end was near.
"See you soon, Freak"
Jay hopped over the railing, and let himself fall, thinking of the new lif
