Me my self Ducky as i am called and Ytram are currently asking permission to continue on with the StarGate command map from plague bringer to finish his map. We were wondering who would like to see this map completed as we know that there were a few people that did? Also do you have any suggestions for this map that are doable and where would you like the StarGate to go? We were thinking of making it connect to the aliens home world where they live in a giant living organism on an alien planet. We were thinking that team work would be required to activate to StareGates. we have so many ideas ready for the project and are ready to take on the job. we will try to put in as many of your ideas as possible. Hope to hear some replies.

We are happy to announce that we will be working on this map and look forward to completing it when we can. We have many new ideas to add and may add some of your ideas if you have any.

Also does anyone know of any good and free .md3 editors?

Blender is good but it takes some time to master it. User interface, for example, is far from 'standard'.

UG Jake has made an epic stargate map.... i dont think he released it to general public though ill see if i can get him to show some bits for you guys, maybe give some ideas

Thanks purenoob for your opinion.
By teamwork we mean one player activates the stargate in the conrol room and the others go through it. However i don't think that it will be required anymore because the stargate will stay open long enough and the aliens will have a DHD.
I now have blender and it does look confusing. From what i understand i need python scripts, which i have. I will look at that later.
And thankyou nubcake that would be great.

Here are some screenshots of the alien sections of the Stargate Command map. This is still work in progress. there are still many bugs to be fixed and some things are not quite placed correctly in the right position but the main idea is still there.

please give some feed back on these ideas cause we want this to be good as it can be. We will still need to give credits to the textures that we borrowed and are using temporarily or they may be permanent. The human base and the main StarGate Command is slowly being updated with fixes in detailing then features and extra detail will be added.

Sorry the images were too bright, they were a bit rushed.
The trees are bright anyway.
We can take better ones later maybe when it's more complete.

1. Something is wrong with whatever software you use to make/transform those pictures
2. Very repetitive textures. All of them
3. Just because it is an ugly texture, it doesn't mean it has to be alien
4. You need to find a skilled artist. Really

Lights have not been added to the map yet because it is still in progress. It is not yet finished.
The screenshots were taken with F11 and were produced by the game.
At the time the gamma must have been too high, a mistake which caused them too go too bright.
The idea was to show the maps progress and if the idea was any good. It will look better later.

To see if you liked the idea and where it was going.
We want to know what people want/what they think of the map during the building process so we don't have to change it too much after it is finished.
I realise that this section of forums is intended for releases and not work in progress. I am sorry for this but ducky posted it here without realising that fact.
Where should it have gone? Other Mapping Related Material? Mapping Help Center? Other suggested topic?

Here's the idea. Make those rooms look so uber leet (pipespam, prefab spam, anything spam), with epic lighting etc, (unless you're physically incapable of doing so) then post screenshots to blow the public's mind.

if you want us to see an initial preview of the map to get our views, don't taint them by making a map that looks like something i could probably create by opening /dev/urandom in radiant.

By showing devlopment pictures, people can put their opinons so Ytram and Ducky can improve the map based on peoples comments. As i know both Ytram and Ducky personally, and i am going to be one of the main testers of this map. They will improve it as i've seen them hard at work on this map during school, instead of doing what their meant to be doing. So if you have questions or comments or even just going to have a go at them, think of this.... THIS MAP IS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT.

I'm not sure you understand. To most people, I have to say, one huge, bright box is just bad looking. Until you get good looking things, you will just be flamed. If your face and brain had released "development shots" in their own thread back when they first started they would have been flamed too, because it was UGLY. (No offence guys.

) When you have some pictures you truly think look good, than try to get people interested. Right now... I don't know how you can expect anything else, honestly.

OK, OK. We were just posting dev shots because we were wanting to see if the idea looked good. We were not really trying to impress you, not yet anyway.
I suppose that idea failed.

Me, but currlently it looks like... piece of crap. You REALLY need some better mappers... I see no shadows here, trees are white, no details... Can I help you with this? It's good idea for map for me.

The Father? WTF? I go to school with them, Ytram and Ducky are even older than me!

And Redman we've only just started. As of yet, we don't have the right textures for everything, probably from nothing. we're just trying to get the shape first so we know basically what its going to look like. We understand that there's a lot more to do, a lot! But with shadows and details, ect, thats stuff thats put in when the basic shape and colour's are done, am i not right? as for working on it, i cannot give you that answer. you'd have to ask Ducky or Ytram, or just wait for one of them to relpy.
