Non-default maps at servers...
« on: June 17, 2009, 06:26:41 pm »
Is there any non-modded servers running frequently non-default maps? Only servers where non-default maps seem to be popular are servers with unlimited building points, x-related stuff etc..

that's a good question really... you might try dretch*storm, back in the days that I played there there were only dynamic bp's, not sure if you count that as a mod... Not sure if they have added stuff either.
EDIT: Doesn't this belong in the servers forum?

The server you are looking for is Twilight Dominion =]

We have, and always wil be, a "pure" trem server, and we have a lot of variety in our maps. Only a few are on default rotation, but you can call for votes at any time.

PureTremulous is good old trem, with some custom maps.
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

If you're an Australian then Tremwars runs a few different custom maps.

Dretch*Storm map rotation is ATCS, ATCS, ATCS, ATCS, ATCS, ATCS, ... I didn't find Twilight Dominion from the list. Maybe there were no players on. :/ Same for PureTremulous... and I am not Australian.  Maybe there is more people on these servers later.

Dretchstorm has only started to run pure ATCS recently, and only in the evenings (apparently). Something new the server host is doing for some god-forsaken reason.

Still, it has something like 65 maps and you can /callvote nextmap anytime.

Generally the best way to get custom maps is by callvote. Rotations don't usually get to custom maps. It is very easy to get non-default maps on PureTremulous, and it is relatively easy on D*S (depending on which D*S server it is, share might be on). Getting custom maps on AA (share on) is difficult. I haven't played on Twilight Imperium much but it seems pretty similar to PureTremulous.
