Error When making server on WinXP Pro
« on: July 09, 2009, 06:30:47 am »
Hello!
I have recently been trying to start up a server on my laptop and followed this guide.
When i ran the tremserver.bat file,i get this error output:
********************
ERROR: G_ParseSpawnVars: found  when expecting {
********************
----- Server Shutdown (Server crashed: G_ParseSpawnVars: found when expecting {) -----
Resolving master.tremulous.net
master.tremulous.net resolved to 67.222.136.108:30710
Sending heartbeat to master.tremulous.net
Sending heartbeat to master.tremulous.net
==== ShutdownGame ====
ShutdownGame:
------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------
Hunk_Clear: reset the hunk ok
Hitch warning: 49277399 msec frame time

The guide said that this was caused due to a mis matched QVM and tremded.exe, but im afraid that they are the same because i downloaded them off the tjw site and replaced it with the original QVM...
Any ideas? Thank you!

try using a more up to date server, as the tjw stuff is very very old.

I thought they kept saying that the ones on the TJW site don't match in the previous topics. Try using a different QVM.

Thanks for replying-
I followed your advice, and turned to lakitus7's QVM v 5.0. I downloaded its game.qvm and its matching tremded.x86.exe file. When i run the tremserver.bat (i edited it from tremded.exe->tremded.x86.exe), i still get the same error:

Any other ideas for a matching QVM/Tremded.exe?

Where did you put the qvm?  It should be at C:\Documents and Settings\CrikeyMate09\Application Data\Tremulous/base/vm/game.qvm

Colynn':  It's sending heartbeats in the log.

kill3r: Depending on your router it may never show up on the list for you.  http://master.tremulous.net/list/ Shows the full list, wait five minutes and see if it shows up there.

Wait a minute....You need a router?!
I have a laptop that uses the internet service named clear...at this point is it impossible to set up a server?

99% of people have a router, so we just assume that.
If you're jacked straight into the net then it should just work.

My god.

They way you connect to the internet. Read up on routers at wikipedia if you don't know what that is.

Anyways,im starting to think it wont work on my laptop..Here are some specs:
IBM T23
750MB RAM
16MB VRAM
Windows XP Professional
1.13GHZ Intel pentium 3 processor
WiFi Adapter (Linksys WPC11 v4)
--------------------------------
Is there still any chance that setting up a server will work?
Thank You!
