Hey guys, I'm getting this strange error randomly during my server.  It randomly crashed my server, and I'm puzzled as to what caused it.  Could it be that somebody tried to change the map which triggered this error?

signal 11 is segmentation fault. maybe bad memory? or a faulty qvm? try a .so instead of a qvm.

I don't think that the qvm is faulty, I'm using Lakitu7's qvm 5.5 should I use Lakitu7's qvm 5.42?  I've also patched the qvm with this patch for the server side demos.  But I also added every map from MG and added it to the server.  Could this cause the server to use up too much ram?  Also, how would I use a .so instead of a .qvm?  Just make game.qvm --> game.so?

nah. in your Makefile, you should enable the following:

  BUILD_GAME_SO    = 1

and place it in your .tremulous/base folder, NOT .tremulous/base/vm. make sure you rm your QVM.

having all those maps might be causing some sort of error somewhere, as last time I tried to put all of the maps on a server, it wouldn't even start, because it exceeded the maximum amount of PK3s. Try removing some of them.

Ok, thanks.  But I'm having trouble replicating this problem.  Do you have any idea what could be causing it to trigger the crash?

what was the vote about? any custom patches regarding votes on your server?

There are no custom vote patches, but my guess is that the vote was for a new map.  That's why I think that it's all the maps that I have that might be causing the trouble.  I can go look threw the logs if you think it will help, but there are no custom votes.

It looks to me to be the same thing, but I have to clue as to what's causing it.  I still have the crap load of maps, could this be causing me to get this error?  even though this happened in the middle of the game?

Segfault = bug in the code.
What qvm / mods are you using?  Is it the latest?  What tremded?
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

What is x86_64?  Like 64 bit ubuntu?  If that is what it means, then no.  I am on 32 bit ubuntu.  As for the ram, how much ram does tremed use?  It can't be that much?

As for the building idea, this crash didn't involve building, but thanks for the ideas.

a stock tremded on average uses around 80-100mb, but with all the maps i'd assume it'd use a lot more.
