I thought that was what i was supposed to do

Archangel

try reading the readmes or the documentation and not just guessing what you're supposed to do (which is very, very wrong)

Iceman

Have you to move the new "tremulous.exe" in the directory "tremulous" ? ...i don't understand why you talk about system32..

Click on the client area, then the folder of the operating system you use.

I'm assuming you use Windows, in which case you use the stuff in this folder. Place the DLL files in C:/WINDOWS/system32 (most likely -- if you don't see that or it doesn't work, post what version of Windows you're using). Run the exe file. You can rename your current Tremulous binary to something like trem-old.exe, and tremulous.x86.exe to tremulous.exe .

kevlarman

he said to move only the dll files to system32 (and even that's wrong, even though it'll work, you should put all the files in your tremulous directory)

Ah, sorry. :(

I'm curious, though: why? Why not put them into system32, so that you don't have to install them later if you go for a program that needs them? From Googling, it looks like the proper way to install DLL files (on a XP machine) would be to put them into C:/WINDOWS/system32 .
Why will you folk not ban me? :'(

Well... i did what kevlarman said and extracted the files into my tremulous folder but i keep getting the same errors, so don't worry.

David

In system32 they can be used by all software.  Windows lacks a package management system so when you have two things that need the same DLL they will probably want different versions of it, and so one or both will break.

I thought "couldn't load default.cfg" means that it can't find data-1.1.0.pk3... Do you have the pk3 files from default tremulous install in tremulous/base/?

KillerWhale

"Couldn't find defaults.cfg" means the client is in the wrong place more often than not.

For some reason, I have enough faith in him to think that he wouldn't delete data-1.1.0.pk3 throughout this.
