When I click the 'create server' at the bottom, I cant seem to get it to work.  I put dedicated to internet, and then the blue load text stuff comes up and I dont know what to do.

... You actually do then have a server that is on the net that people can get to.

You probably want to turn dedicated off if you want to be able to play while running the server.

it probably doesn't get listed in the serverlist (how should the main listserver know about your server?). I think you've got to enter ip and port to connect. And disable firewall and stuff...

Do you see any "sending heartbeat" messages?.. The heartbeat is how you get listed if i'm not wrong..

You have to do it from command line when you run the server, not from inside the game. If youre using windows, make a shortcut to tremulous.exe, edit properties on the shortcut to say:

(your path here)/tremulous.exe +set dedicated 2

dedicated 0 = normal client game
dedicated 1 = dedicated server for LAN use
dedicated 2 = dedicated server for internet use, ie. send heartbeats to the master server

there are other command line options you might want to add, like:
+exec server.cfg

also do a search for tremded.exe on these forums, it's a better version if youre going to run a server online.

Is this concrete?.. because i've set up servers that i though were working that said they were sending heartbeats.. and i set it up from inside the game... is there some kind of fake heartbeat message or something from inside the game?.. seems like the solution you get when you search though.. noone ever joined my server and i didn't test it.. but i got a heartbeat!.. I'll have to test that out tomorrow.

Also... isn't tremded linux?.. I did a search.. didn't find any actual file..Link?

First of all, what is your computer's IP listed when you type `ipconfig` (without apostrophes) in command line? If it's 10.x.x.x or 172.16-31.x.x or 192.168.x.x, forget about hosting an Internet accessible server unless you can get your provider to forward ports for you.
If my answer to your problem doesn't seem helpful, it means I won't help you until you show some effort to fix your problem yourself!
1.2.0 release's been delayed for 5:48:00 already because of stupid questions.

I actually answered my questions so i'm putting this here for anyone else who does a search/doesn't know...

TREMDED.EXE
http://tjw.org/tremulous/

Runs on windows...

Also.... put one up via in-game setup...  dedicated internet... blue text.. i get heartbeats.. looks like its coming up in the net list.. anyone else see it?.. PIE++?
