If you guys need ideas for a system, check out the nexuiz ladder. It's based on the ELO system so the more matches are played the more accurate the scores become.
The here proposed system wouldn't equal out strong teams playing against weak teams. In ELO, teams get points by skill. If a team plays a very weak team and beats it, it only gets points propotional to the skill of the other team.
