If you do it like the servers section, where there's one section that's moderated normally and one with a `contact registry' where everyone moderates their own entry, I could see it working. Maybe you could try it for a week or so and see how much it gets abused.

Any other set up would probably be horrible.

And I think a `flame' or `spam' board would be a good idea. Even if there is no `flame' board, I want a spam board, where I can post at length about my metal cheese grater (and how smoothly it slices through that yummy cheddar) without fear of a ban or deletion.

@Rocinante: However mature you think you are, there are people who aren't so mature. Since you take care of this forum, you should care whether or not people need/want something, and think about implementing it, even if you don't agree with it (and there is no damage done). Maybe I just don't see things well enough, but it seems to me that there are enough people wanting it to at least think about it.

On a bit of off-topicness: seeing how my permanent ban has expired today, shouldn't Solar's week-long ban expire sometime soon?

Except that my goal here isn't to appease every person on the board.  My goal is to make for an enjoyable experience for the majority of the people, and to make this a place where newcomers are welcome to post their ideas, ask questions without fear of being called names or given bad advice, and overall promote Tremulous as a fun game that everyone can enjoy and in which everyone can participate.  Creating a place whose sole purpose is to call people various names, rant and scream about someone being stupid, call someone a moron for their idea which just wasn't thought out well enough, or whatever else would fit under the umbrella of a "flame board" is in my mind completely contrary to that goal.  And it's no use saying "oh those people who don't like it can just ignore that board" because the ones who might be worth keeping around and keeping interested in the game and its community are likely to be the ones who would see that board and think, "Nevermind, they're not worth it."

Considering that was the second time he was banned for jokingly telling someone that 'rm -rf' would solve their problems, no I don't think it should.

I have another question: What if the person maintaining the thread is not in the clan?

I kind of feel that the current "clans" section should be the child board, and the individual thread section be the main one. I know this doesn't make as much sense logically, but the individual clan thread section is going to get like 90% of the posts, and it just seems silly to have it be the child board.

I'm not sure you understand. I mean that the clan recruitment section (the one with many pages) should be the normal board, and this section should be the child board.
