Or you just use http://web6.freesw.de/trmcfgs.zip and buy guns/evolve with the keypad and build using your mousewheel. That makes the pretty, but annoying menus obsolete, mostly.

I agree with the OP. Its not just the build menus, its the "You cant evolve so close to the enemy" ones, and the "you cant build on this surface" ones. If I am alien and i hit the evolve button and then a human moves into range, i try to evolve, but no luck, i have to close 2 windows before i can move, and often, i am dead by then.

EDIT: One solution, would be to put non interactive messages in the chat. They appear for a few seconds in some bright and noticable color, and then fade. That way, you dont have to deal with the popups.

The menus could have quick-use version that shows only when the key is held and disappear when you release it, transparent, no info about things, single click = sell/buy.

Example quick-menu for buying weapons:
- Press and hold Use structure key near armory
- Click old weapon in the right column
- Click new weapon in the left column
- Release key for using structures

Example quick-menu for building:
- Press and hold LMB
- Move mouse over structure name (or out of that menu to cancel)
- Release LMB
- Click to place structure

Example evolution:
- Press and hold Evolve key (the menu won't show if you're too close to humans to evolve)
- Click your desired class (menu disappears and you evolve)
If my answer to your problem doesn't seem helpful, it means I won't help you until you show some effort to fix your problem yourself!
