Anyone here using TJW's client on Debian-amd64?
« on: October 22, 2009, 07:50:41 pm »
I currently use the standard-client that comes with Debian for amd64, but this, well, no GUID, slow downloads, etcetera. I tried the client from tremulous.net's files-section, but they don't work, etc., so I ask myself if it may be possible that someone here already did that what I am about to do, that is using TJW's mod or something on Debian for amd64, because I really would like to know if this is possible at all.

I have retired from Tremulous. Definetely. If you play a game just because it has become a habit, but u'r only feeling like a kindergarten teacher - well, maybe I am just getting too old (hell, I was a teenager when DukeNukem3D was *new*) - it's probably not a bad idea to just let it be. And I do.

Don't take this personally. Have fun, guys.

Uninstall the package, install the main installer, and then install a modded client as per the instructions.
TJW's has a big out-of-date warning on it, so you probably want something newer.

You can install a new client over the package, but finding where the current client is hidden can be hard.

tjw's client doesn't have proper 64 bit support, you can run a 32 bit client if you install 32 bit libgl and sdl, or you can use something like mgclient or tremfusion that are based on ioq3 versions with a working x86_64 jit compiler.

I fiddled around with 32bit-libs and such already, but for no effect.

I guess I will try tremfusion.

That or this. Either should work for you.

Tremfusion did work. (It shreds X if you have compiz on, but that does not matter.)
