Can't uninstall
« on: July 15, 2006, 04:33:42 pm »
Hi,
I saw in another post that to uninstall tremulous (not that I am going to but just to know how it is done) u can use an uninstall script.
I found it and tried to run it with "sudo sh uninstall" or by double clicking on it (yes I am a noob in linux) but in the gui nothing happened while in the
terminal I got a message "No usable uninstall file found".

I am using Ubuntu 6.06.

P.S. I looked for the .loki file in my home folder (hidden files I guess) but there was none.

So how do I uninstall the game?

I deleted everything manually and I think my distro still works so its ok.

However it took me some time to realize why I did not have the .loki file.
It would be nice if the game developers made sure that in the website are some installation instructions for new users that would say:
INSTALL LOKI UNINSTALLER BEFORE THE GAME!!!!!!!!

WOULD THAT BE THAT DIFFICULT TO DO????????

And if it is written somewhere, which I dont think it is, put it in a more obvious place..........!!!

They may know everything about the game and Linux but not all of us do.Keep that in mind!!

Thanks.

I get your point. But, to be brief, on Linux you can usually remove user defined application directories in order to remove a particular program. There is no such thing as a "registry" on Linux, where weird configuration data is stored. In most cases this data is stored in hidden files.

Not to sound arrogant...

geokok, you have absolutely no right to shout here.
If you did not read your distro's manual, it's your own fault and you had absolutely no business fooling around with Linux.
Or to put it in your writing

READ THE FINE MANUAL,
WOULD THAT BE THAT DIFFICULT TO DO????????
