Tremulous Problem
« on: December 13, 2009, 02:08:52 am »
Hey!

My friend told me about this game, Tremulous, at school, which he carries around on his USB stick.
He gave it to me and told me what to start and I was relly excited to get home and start playing with him.

I got home, plugged in my USB stick and double clicked on the game.
The screen went black, then went close up, then it came up saying: "Tremulous has stopped working".
And then I exited it and the screen went really bright.
I read about this problem but it said to turn the "gamma" down in-game.
I can't do this because Tremulous didn't start.

Do I need to download the installation and run it? Because if I do then I can't get it because my PC is broken and I need to use my mum's new laptop that she got for work.
I am not allowed to install anything on it.

I was using Windows Vista.
The laptop has the new Windows 7.

Thanks :D

The best solution would be for you to redownload and reinstall it. Maybe the settings for the Trem your friend gave you isn't compatible with W7 or something. Tremulous works fine in W7 btw

Run it from the command prompt and post up the output.

well maybe i had the same problem: while running tremulous the screen went black and then the programm didnt work anymore. i hat to close it via f4. if it is the same i know what the problem is : you have updated the driver for you graphiccard but a small file named nvlddmkm.sys didnt get updated. i know no solution for it. i searched in google for hours but there are not only a few different solutions most say: just run windows in safe mode and deinstall the driver that makes problems. after you install new drver again adn delete the nvlddmkm.sys file. well i tried it out and at first it worked, but after a while nothing worked at my pc, so i had to reinstall the full driver again. now windows works normal but tremulous has some bugs. the only solution i could imagine: try to find an older version of the driver and install it. maybe the problem with the one file is gone then.
hope i could help a bit
