What gives points/credits?
« on: July 17, 2006, 04:58:45 pm »
I'm aware that directly killing someone gives you evolution points, or credits, whichever the case.

I'm also aware that surviving for a longer time gives points every n minutes.. I think every five minutes.

But I also saw that getting killed by turrets gives the opposite team points, and even helps them with passing to another stage... WHEN does that happen? When the turret was built by a player, and that player didn't die? And SHOULD it happen?

Yah i'd add some more info and questions to that:
As alien, I do sometimes get points while BEING NEAR some teammate who just chomped someone. AND I sometimes DON'T get points when I bite an enemy and a teammate sits next to me quietly.
  Unfair!

Also, I get points when Grangering (or as human, credits for building)
How does that work?!

I'd love to know all the causes and cons  :)

Not sure it is explained correctly in the manul so here is it once again :
- Each target has a certain number of points worth. That number is decided at the death of the target. It's 150 for an egg, 175 for a dretch, 1 for an human, 3 for an human with at least 600$ worth of equipment etc ...
- Each target keeps track of who caused the damage it receives. For example, a dretch knows it has been damaged for 10 points by player A, 10 points by player B and for 20 points by player C ( the dretch healed in between fights )

Now, you just need to share the points worth according to the ammount of damage dealt. Since an human with poor equipment is only worth one point, it's the alien who deals the most damage who gets the point but for a human worth 2 points, it's the 2 biggest damage dealers I guess.
urphy's rules of combat
8 ) Teamwork is essential; it gives the enemy someone else to shoot at.
18 ) Make it too tough for the enemy to get in and you can't get out.

Who ever does majority of damage to human victim gets the evo point.

ie. if you do a headshot for 96 dmg and your friend kills it with a leg shot, you get the evo point. If your friend does the headshot and you the leg, he gets the point.

Now that's a straight forward understanding from the manual however in game it doesn't take into account that sometimes humans escape and heal up. But the underlying principle is still the same, whoever does the most dmg gets the reward.

Humans are much the same way only every bit of dmg is rewarded.

So, if a human damages me a little bit without being able to kill me, meanwhile I heal up to full, and then I go suicide myself, that human gets credits... Alright, I think I get it.
