trem 1.2
« on: January 11, 2010, 06:53:13 pm »
Hey,
I've been playing tremulous on the occasions when I have nothing to do, but I noticed that a lot of players aren't around anymore.. and was told everyone plays 1.2.

I decided to download it, but when Trem 1.2 starts running, all i get is a black screen and nothing works... I can still hear every other program working (msn for example) but the only way to get out of the screen is to shut down my computer...

Is this a common problem? or have I fucked up?

ps. I have a Mac

This is a common mac problem.  They offer a solution in the readme, which is to create a new base tremulous folder.  So goto: "/Users/*User_Name*/Library/Application Support/" and find a folder called tremulous.  Rename this folder to tremulous1.1 and start up the gpp.  After it is started up it will create a new tremulous folder in Application Support.  When you want to play 1.1 again, go back to your Application Support folder, and rename the current tremulous folder to tremulous1.2 and set tremulous1.1 to tremulous.  Hope it all works out for you.

Warm Regards,

Isn't it a lot shorter and better to tell them to add +set fs_homepath "/Users/*User_Name*/Library/Application Support/tremulous1.2" (or the mac equivalent) to the shortcut ??? No need to be renaming anything then...

Yes, but that cvar is readonly, otherwise I would agree with you.  You can't use +set either when starting it up, even from the command line :/

fs_homepath can be set from the cli, people do it all the time for testing.

I also find that everytime I open Trem 1.2, My Mouse Sensitivity gets changed. Not just for Trem, but for my entire computer.

Yeah, I have that problem too.  It goes away if I properly quit tremulous.  (ex. esc --> exit --> quit).

I've also found a problem with the mouse when you minimise tremulous.  Your mouse fights for control of the in game mouse.  I'll post screenies and the spam message latter.
