Different Strange Adjustments
« on: January 12, 2010, 09:38:39 pm »
The bad:

Quote
Human Speed:
This doesn't seem to make sense to me. Why are humans faster than even the tyrant on foot (without using charge and such)? If they we're the same speed that would be fine but every time I'm a goon, I get pissed off as I get shottied, and just before the range on the goon is reached (which is practically point blank) the human moves back, running faster to where I can't even reach him if I moved forward on him. I've seen this happen numerous times and I'm confused as to why this is never brought up.

Goon Pounce:
Recently, I've been getting rather irritated at being goon at all. As I mentioned above, I have a problem with humans running faster than me as a goon. Some might say, "Well why don't you just pounce him?" That would be lovely but I find that a near point blank range pounce never works. I didn't see this in the adjustments and I'm curious as to why I pounce, I hit him and instead of him bouncing away, he stays put, not receiving damage and acting as if nothing happened, while I'm point blank, waiting on my slash attack to return and getting shottied three times in the process. I enjoy sniping which works to an extent if I have enough to kill the opposing human with. Many a times have I killed myself with it though... Not used to that...

Advanced Marauder Lightning:

I have a really not that bad suggestion. Instead of the lightning committing the same amount of damage on every linked building, why not spread it out to each one? Say for instance, the lightning does a total of 1000 damage. When it hits two turrets, the damage is split in half between the two and they recieve 500 each. If it hits three, they receive 1000/3 which is 333 each turret, etc. I also haven't seen this brought up and I might be mistaken since it might already be in place (I don't use marauder often) but at the rate a cramped human base disappears to two marauders, I don't think it is.

Is it just me or... Dretch:

I find that sometimes dretch kills in a random amount of hits. Sometimes I could follow them all the way down the hall in ACTS, hitting them (aiming up as close to the head of course) every tick, and still not killing them. Other times, I can kill them in two shots like normal. Could this be because of lag or bad connection that it's not hitting the needed spots?

Glitchy Basi Grip:

Some might have found me complaining about strange happenings with basilisk. If you have 300 ping and you get caught in a basi grip, it's possible you might never know as it will grab but the moment he glitches to the next location in the map, it lets him go for some reason. I've also found that sometimes people can turn around and even get out of the basi grip after using dodge. I haven't been able to do this myself (since I usually die to quick) but I have seen it does five or six times to myself and a few times to others.

Basi Support:

I will say that not enough people take advantage of basilisk support. In Stage 3 of the Humans, many a time have I gone out of my way to spend 2 evos on adv basi to support the team. Not only do I not get evos or points (none the less credit for helping them), I find no one barely takes advantage of being healed by me and makes the run all the way to the base for a booster. This, overall, demotivates those who wish to help the team during later stages of the game with a basilisk. Could there possibly be a way to give basi credit for healing such as points per heal or evos per heal? And how about 1 point for at least grabbing the opponent and letting some other alien more able to kill steal it from you?

The good:
Quote
Tyrant is still easy to use and I enjoy the charging. It makes me feel like I actually spent my 5 (or possibly 6 or even 7) on a Tyrant for a good reason.

I enjoy the basilisk once again as it's become a crucial part but like I said above, people do not take advantage of it enough wasting time and giving the humans more time to rebuild the damages.

The goon sucks. I have almost nothing good to say about it (except splash spikes). I've got a few videos I'm hoping to post up showing my beautiful aim going to crap out of frustration from being out of range of a human that's practically point blank and also showing the problems with pounce. I'll have that up on Youtube hopefully soon since I'm bored out of mind (hince why I made this post although a valid post).

The dretch is great. Balance and damage per hit is fine but I seem to have problems with area specific hitting. This is also in the demos I made.

The marauder is good like always (although I don't use it much personally). See above for what I think about the special attack of the advanced version.

And I almost forgot but I thought it deserved it's own topic but decided on it's own reply instead.

Dub the goddamn flame thrower already.

Human Speed & Goon Pounce: You just need to combine the use of chomp and pounce/trample/etc, use the right one depending on distance to human. The pounce only fails at point blank range (when the target's bbox is touching yours) or when you land on ground before hitting. And shottied 3 times while waiting after pounce is a little exaggerated. Snipe should be used when human is further away, when you can't quickly pounce to him (or won't risk, like before running away).

Adv mara lighting: the point is making it powerful against multiple targets, not a single one.

Dretch: headshots are now 1.5x dmg (72 for dretch). It is now more difficult to kill in 2 hits. To guarantee a headshot you would need to be above (on walls/ceiling) or look waaay up from very close. I just try to stay ahead of target when possible, so I'm not chasing them, barely able to hit.

You might also want to find out if the server is using unlagged or not. Hitting a target works slightly differently with unlagged on/off.

The only alien slower than a sprinting human is a non-pouncing goon, but it's still faster than a running human.  Since 1.1, the only changes in speed are faster dretches, faster normal grangers and slower advgrangers.

I've also found that people do not take advantage of the amazing healing aura that advbasi have. Not only do they not give you credit if you are one, you do not get score, and you are usually a soft target for humans who know that you're not a direct threat but more of a support class/easy credits for them.

Most people frustrated by this also refuse to be an adv basi if they have the choice they'll just mara or wait for goon... you should be one yourself every once in a while, and thank the people who take their time to help you heal, and give them credit for helping the team even if they have a crapy score... being a mobile booster is boring and at s2/3 it's not a job that gets you evos or score but it CAN seriously win the game for your team... think about it...

Thank your mobile booster at the end of each game, and give him/her credit for being a team player, and suffering the boring job of healing you. I have been thanked a few times, and it always gave me warm fuzzy feelings of being a team player :D
