Don't listen to superpie. 1.2 is the newest versions and will hopefully see full release with new graphics in a few months. There's no point in getting used to the vastly inferior 1.1 when 1.2 is available.

1.2 beta/gameplay preview is only "unstable" in the sense that it's still subject to (minor) gameplay changes. Someone new would probably be better off getting used to it instead of 1.1.

You will, however, need to install 1.1 before installing 1.2 (unless you're using the Mac installer).

Well, 1.2 is a tiny bit unstable in that it still has annoying bugs like having to turn wallwalk toggle on every time you start the client.  And my humans occasionally go into "creep" mode for no apparent reason - walking at 0.1 mph in the human base with full stamina and no granger spit in sight.   And crashing instead of displaying the download menu when the AA server tries to download stuff with allow_downloads 0.

But 1.2 gpp still >> 1.1
