Tremulous lighting problems.
« on: February 27, 2010, 07:29:06 pm »
Hey, I've played Tremulous for a while now, and when I switched PCs, the maps seem extremely dark. I've spoken to other friends, and they say they'll have this problem on different pcs as well.

Naturally, I put the lighting all the way up, but it still isn't helping.

I have a 9600 GSO graphics, and everything else from Bioshock to CS:S runs fine.

halp!

In default client the brightness slider only changes r_gamma from 0.5 to 2.0, in console you can set it to 3.0.

It's a joke, copying Iabz.

Also I'm going to come out right away and suggest that your problem is because you're running vista or 7.  Which there are a ton of threads about, just search gamma problem in vista up top.

Haha. Funny. Really!
But you might be correct. If adjusting the brightness slider doesn't make any difference at all, you can try running trem in XP compatibility mode.

you almost stopped playing because you were forced to play trem at its intended brightness?

'Intended'? Brightness & contrast varies a LOT between different monitors.

I usually have a bind to fix this whenever I unplug my laptop, since that is when the gamma resets.
It's something like this:
/bind o "r_gamma 1; r_gamma 1.3" (or whatever gamma you usually play at)

my brain > your brain.
and i am VERY stupid.
