Suggestion for better comunications

Did I got you to read that post ? Good :)

Ok, here's the idea : phpBB sucks, a lot. Could we please get something halfway decent as a forum ? Phorum would be a great improvement for example ! Actually, I don't think there are many forums worse than what we have : it is slow, bulky, it's implementation of the "new unread posts in that thread" is brain damaged and the default smileys are ugly :D

Imho the forum is great, responsive and all. And phpBB can't be so bad since many large community forums use it (like the gentoo-forum, which had, as i read a few mins ago, 1850 Users online at the same time as max)

Yeah and lot's of companies use Windows so it must bea great OS.

Worse things about the forum is
- when I read a thread and the forum still says there are new messages in that thread later
- when the forum says there are new messages in a thread and I click on the "view newest post" and the forum tells me "I've changed my mind, there are no new messages here"
- "view newest post" is not only broken, it's also badly named : it doesn't go to the newest post when it works but to the oldest unseen post
- at times, the forum is incredibly slow and unresponsive

Might be selective, as I've never had the problems you've listed.

Maybe the forum just doesn't like you.

Some people don't know how to use their computer, screw their cookies, then blame the forum.

That's easy, on the main menu, click on a forum with an orange icon showing new posts to open the thread list. Some threads will have a small yellow icon next to them that points to the new posts. Go do something else and come back a few minutes later, click on the yellow icons and you'll either reach the wrong post or get the infuriating "I've lied, there's no new messages"

Other bug, open in a tab 4 different threads with a yellow icon at the same time, read them and refresh the thread list. Lo and behold, the icons are still there !

Isn't this due to server load or connection speed, etc. rather than faults with phpBB?
